Chapter 342: Entering the Divine Continent, Even Border Towns Have World-Class Masters?
TL: Sungmin
“It’s true; this place is too dilapidated and uncomfortable to live in,” Lin Tian mused thoughtfully.
Life had improved greatly, so he was no longer accustomed to living the way he had in the past. He had stayed in the underground palace for several days solely to stabilize the data, but now that it was settled, it was time to plan the next steps.
Lin Tian said, “Let’s set up a large teleportation magic array first. When it’s ready, we’ll transport all the supplies and people over in one go.”
“Understood, Your Majesty,” Katheryn replied respectfully.
The One-Eyed Owl could barely contain her excitement. “Great! Shall we go scout the area first? The Divine Continent is largely unknown to us. All I’ve heard is that it’s inhabited by extremely powerful beings, with many demigods among them.”
The Divine Continent’s Divine Pantheon was vast and complex. Its gods frequently descended to the mortal world to freeload, leaving behind many demigods. The Wilderness, however, was different, with only Heaven’s God presiding over it. Due to Heaven’s strict rules, demigods didn’t appear there.
Jeanne d’Arc also came from the Divine Continent.
Lin Tian nodded. “Let’s go scout the area first. Come on.”
“Are we just heading there like this, or should we disguise ourselves?” Alice asked cautiously. She had little information about the Divine Continent—just like Lin Tian.
However, Lin Tian replied, “There’s no need for that. We’ll head straight to the strongest empire’s leaders, declare our sovereignty, and establish our empire. It’s as simple as that.”
Alice smiled bitterly for the first time, clearly unaccustomed to Lin Tian’s current attitude. He had once been extremely cautious.
After some time, Katheryn completed the initial setup of the teleportation array. They only needed to establish another endpoint on the Divine Continent and inject magic power to activate it.
Lin Tian then headed to the dragon’s nest. “Flame Dragon Mother, do you have some free time? Want to come along for an adventure?”
The Flame Dragon Mother, curled up on a cliffside, opened her eyes. Upon seeing Lin Tian, she transformed into a humanoid form and approached him. “An adventure? Where to?”
“To the Divine Continent,” Lin Tian explained. “I recall you mentioning that the ancestral dragon nest is over there. We could visit it along the way.”
The ancestral dragon nest was the oldest and largest dragon nest, home to ancient dragons embodying all the elements.
Hearing this, the Flame Dragon Mother nodded. She had been completely awed by Lin Tian’s strength during the recent Goblin King City battle. Though she once longed to return to the ancestral nest, staying by Lin Tian’s side now seemed far better than enduring the submission required in such a place.
“Father, why are we going to the Divine Continent?” Little Black, curious, asked from beside him.
Lin Tian fondly patted the small, hardened black horns on her head. “To move, of course. You can come along and have some fun.”
Spark, standing nearby, listened attentively.
The Purple-Gold Dragon Mother also showed interest. “Moving? To the Divine Continent?! There are so many demigods there. Is there even a place for us?”
“There is,” Lin Tian said coldly. “If they live comfortably, fine. If not, we’ll seize land by force. They’ll learn to fear the terror of the Wilderness.”
A ghostly flame flickered in his eyes as he spoke, filled with icy resolve. He wasn’t about to accommodate anyone.
With four ancient dragons as transportation, Lin Tian could bring his companions along, saving considerable time. He summoned Alice, the One-Eyed Owl, Katheryn, Gobu Kuang, Grugia, and Osius. Riding atop the colossal dragons, they ascended into the sky, stirring up fierce winds as they flew toward the Divine Continent.
…
Lin Tian sat atop Little Black’s back, gazing down at the enchanted forest and the Great Tomb below. He noticed a flesh-eating eagle perched on a giant tree platform, waving at him. Beyond, a hazy white snowfield stretched into the distance, and the familiar Goblin Valley deepened his memories.
Moments of struggling to survive surged into his heart. At last, there was no need to hide anymore.
As they passed a village, Veronica glanced up with a cold smile. “That guy… could he be heading to the Divine Continent? Unbelievable…”
“What’s wrong, my dear? Oh? A dragon?” Rebecca’s voice sounded beside her. Having abandoned her Lucky Steal ability, she had fallen in love with Veronica again. The two lived shamelessly in the village, though Rebecca, as a succubus, had been banned by the villagers from interacting with children or married men.
It took less than half an hour…
Lin Tian hovered above the ruins of Goblin King City.
“So, it ended up like this? I didn’t expect it. What a pity… I failed to uphold the Headless Knight’s final wish.”
The Headless Knight had wished to protect the Goblin Empire before his death. It was also a way to preserve the land he once safeguarded. However, it had now been reduced to ruins.
“But maybe it’s for the best. At least there will be no more conflicts here.”
Lin Tian sighed, his gaze sharpening as he looked into the distance.
Before long, he reached the border of the Uninhabited Zone. From afar, he could see the faint outlines of the Zerg Empire. The Ant Queen had been managing it, and it was slowly regaining vitality. A powerful guardian also protected it now: a mutant form of the Dark Butterfly, known as the Light Butterfly.
It was the evolved form of the plump green caterpillar that had broken its cocoon.
High above the Zerg Empire, a radiant young girl with butterfly wings and clad in luminescent silks floated in the air. Her ethereal eyes gazed into the distance.
“Dragons… and him? What kind of unbelievable legend is he about to create this time?”
She was already in awe of Lin Tian after he overthrew the Queen’s rule. She had become a full-fledged admirer.
After crossing the Uninhabited Zone, Lin Tian finally beheld an entirely new landscape.
Crimson rays of sunlight painted vibrant clouds, and verdant mountains complemented clear waters. Even the air felt refreshing and invigorating.
“So, this is the Divine Continent? It truly feels like a place where gods reside,” Lin Tian said.
Grugia and Osius were stunned, their eyes wide in amazement.
“Gods?” Lin Tian suddenly recalled something. “Alice, Big Sis, take these.” He tossed over two divine cores.
“What are these?” Alice asked, holding what looked like a shapeless cluster of light that shone like a star.
The One-Eyed Owl was astonished. “Divine cores?! You’re being this generous? You’re not keeping them for yourself?”
“I can create my own Divine Pantheon to nurture divine cores, so I don’t need them for now. But you two won’t be able to use them yet—you need to establish faith first,” Lin Tian explained.
Establishing faith required the construction of temples, churches, or monasteries. Only after people began generating faith could one qualify to use a divine core.
As for the others, Lin Tian planned to seize more divine cores later.
Grugia and Osius looked envious. “Becoming gods? I’m jealous, Big Sis! Tian’er! Can we have one too?”
“Don’t rush. You’ll get yours eventually. Giving them to you now might just get them stolen,” Lin Tian said helplessly.
Demigods could sense divine cores, and anyone with combat power exceeding 30,000 was eligible to become a god. For ordinary beings or monsters, meeting both faith and power thresholds was essential. Demigods, however, didn’t need the power requirement.
The One-Eyed Owl scolded them, “What are you two thinking? Can’t you already turn into Titan Giants? Don’t get too greedy.”
“You’re right. And we owe it all to Tian’er for giving us the blueprint for god-creation! Hahaha!” Grugia chuckled.
Osius nodded. “Exactly! It’s a shame that aside from us, most of the experimenters either died or were rendered useless. All the Titan Giant finger bones were completely consumed.”
Every attempt to extract genes and fuse them with magic consumed a portion of the Titan Giant’s finger bones, and their limited supply was running dry.
“Look ahead! There’s finally a city. But it’s small, probably just a border town,” the One-Eyed Owl pointed to a riverside city in the distance.
The city spanned roughly three kilometers.
Lin Tian gestured. “Let’s head over and inquire about the situation.”
The ancient dragons began descending.
On the city walls, a light-armored soldier on sentry duty suddenly felt uneasy. “Why do I feel so stifled?” he murmured.
“Yeah, me too. Could it be the weather? Maybe it’s going to rain,” another soldier remarked, scanning the sky.
Then his entire body trembled as he pointed into the distance.
“Bad news! What is that?! What is that?!”
“It’s dragons! Full city alert! Four dragons are approaching from the Uninhabited Zone!”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The soldiers shouted warnings as they frantically rang the alarm bells, producing sharp, piercing sounds.
The entire city reacted swiftly, with people rushing toward underground shelters. Being a border town, attacks from Uninhabited Zone monsters were a common occurrence.
The city lord, Ramon, received the news but, rather than panicking, looked delighted. “Ancient dragons? What treasures! Mr. Bernard, your team might strike it rich today!”
In front of him stood several men dressed in varying attire, each bearing a star-shaped emblem on their chest.
They were Mythic-Class adventurers from the Star Guild. Sensing the enormous energy fluctuations from the Wilderness, they had planned to investigate and had stopped at the riverside city to rest.
With a team of adventurers boasting combat power exceeding 10,000, Ramon felt utterly secure despite his own meager strength of a few thousand.
The adventurer team had even slain a Great Demon King in the past.
To them, mere ancient dragons weren’t even worth considering.
“Lord Ramon, tell your residents not to panic or hide in the shelters. Four flying lizards like these are no match for us,” said Bernard, the confident leader of the adventurer team, as he led his men toward the city walls.
Facing the four menacing ancient dragons, Bernard remained calm and ordered, “Deploy the shield.”
A White Hat Grand Mage in his team immediately cast a spell.
A massive white shield materialized, covering the entire town.
Lin Tian, approaching leisurely, frowned slightly.
“A World-Class magical shield? A small town like this on the Divine Continent has someone capable of casting World-Class magic?!”
If that were the case, it spelled trouble. It implied that leaders of main cities or kings would be unimaginably powerful.
Still, based on the combat power of Heaven’s gods, the peak for demigods should be around 25,000 at most. Lin Tian decided not to overthink it; he would have to witness it firsthand.
Riding atop Little Black, he stopped just outside the town, observing the situation within.
Bernard and his team, standing on the city walls, were also scrutinizing Lin Tian and the others. However, their focus remained entirely on the dragons, failing to notice the group riding behind them.
After all, no one had ever tamed ancient dragons before. Even in the Northern Snowfields of Pendragon, they only managed to domesticate wyverns, the two-legged kind used by dragon rider squads.
Four-legged ancient dragons were on a completely different level.
Even the once-weak Purple-Gold Dragon Mother had ruled a dragon island, commanding dozens of wyverns.
“There are actually three dragons over a kilometer long! When did the Wilderness have such a powerful ancient dragon nest?” Bernard’s eyes were full of shock, quickly replaced by glee.
Kilometer-Class ancient dragons were incredibly valuable. Four of them together could fetch millions of gold coins.
“Captain, we’ve struck it rich!”
“Hahaha, we haven’t even reached the Wilderness yet, and we’re already getting such a big windfall!”
“I can’t wait to take action! The last time I killed an ancient dragon was ten years ago!”
The Mythic-Class adventurers were itching for battle, their weapons at the ready: great axes, sharp swords, sturdy shields.
Their formation, combining mages and healers with Bernard’s dual expertise in magic and assassination, made them one of the Star Guild’s top teams.
Lin Tian observed them keenly.
“The strongest among them has a combat power of 16,000? Interesting. Are even adventurers in border towns this monstrous? If it were just Little Black and the others, they might have struggled to handle this.”
Little Black’s current strength surpassed that of the Flame Dragon Mother, with a combat power close to 15,000. Spark was similar.
Ancient dragons weren’t particularly strong in one-on-one combat, but their destructive power in large-scale battles was catastrophic—devastatingly terrifying.
Against similarly powered humans, however, they were often at a disadvantage.
“Dispel the magic array! Prepare to attack!”
On the city walls, Bernard roared. As the magical barrier dissipated, they launched a surprise attack.
Several figures darted forward at lightning speed.
Meanwhile, the Grand Mage had completed his spell.
“World-Class magic: Ice Chains!”
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The sound of chains sliding echoed as frosty chains appeared out of nowhere, binding Little Black tightly.
Bernard and his team’s eyes gleamed with ruthless intent as they prepared to unleash focused attacks on Little Black.
Crack!
Unfortunately for them, Little Black’s massive size allowed her to break free with ease, ascending higher into the sky. Spark and the others quickly followed suit.
What followed was a relentless bombardment.
Dragon flames rained down like meteors, smashing toward Bernard and his team with violent force.
Lin Tian watched with interest, refraining from intervening. He wanted to see if Little Black and the others could overcome such an elite Mythic-Class adventurer team on their own.
