Virus King - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Death of Flesh Mountain! Butcher Divides the Ox!
TL: YYang
In the midst of everyone’s horrified stares, Chen Bai shook his wrist and mused aloud:
“Not bad strength! I’d estimate it’s a little stronger than before; worthy of the name ‘Flesh Mountain’!”
With such power, if not for the recent evolution of Chen Bai’s Darklight Virus, he probably wouldn’t have been able to withstand it.
Yet, even with his current resistance, the ache in his arm strained his impressive constitution of 4 points, leaving him a bit overwhelmed.
The mutant’s sheer strength caused Chen Bai’s eyes to narrow slightly.
In truth, the real terror of Flesh Mountain lay not in its raw power but in the terrifying bulk and resilience of its massive body.
As people would expect, a creature of such size would usually suffer a reduction in flexibility!
Not speed, but flexibility!
The speed this Flesh Mountain displayed just moments ago had left Lu Li and the others utterly shaken!
Of course, part of it was their own weakness and low attributes that made this lumbering Flesh Mountain seem unbelievably fast.
However, speed was Chen Bai’s specialty.
He shook out his sore right hand, and in the next moment, black scales covered his entire palm.
Three sharp claws suddenly extended from the back of his hand, as sharp as steel blades!
This eerie sight left those who hadn’t yet recovered from the earlier scene completely stunned once more!
What had become of this world!?
First, there were terrifying creatures like these, and now there was some mysterious, terrifyingly powerful figure who had emerged from who knew where!
The world was growing less and less real!
Yet Song Ziqiong and Leng Shuang, though startled, widened their eyes with amazement.
They were more capable of handling such sights than ordinary people. Although this enormous Flesh Mountain still filled them with physical unease and dread, Chen Bai’s earlier display of invincibility gave them confidence!
And indeed, they had reason to feel assured.
In a direct, blow-for-blow slugfest, Chen Bai estimated that after a ten-minute exchange with Flesh Mountain, he’d likely be the one in trouble.
It would mean internal bleeding and muscle rupture for sure.
Even that single punch earlier had been reckless and left Chen Bai feeling rough.
But Chen Bai was confident in his ability to gauge the strength of this mutant.
And now, if it came down to using his advantages against this kind of mutant, no one was better suited than Chen Bai.
Ghost Shadow Claw!
Chen Bai muttered silently to himself.
In the next instant, a ghostly shadow wrapped around the black Zombie Claws.
Simultaneously, Chen Bai’s figure vanished from sight.
No one—neither the massive Flesh Mountain nor anyone else—could tell how he had disappeared!
Their vision simply couldn’t keep up with Chen Bai’s speed.
Too fast!
It was truly too fast!
Even Chen Bai himself was startled by his own speed.
With the Darklight Virus awakened, his agility had climbed to 4 points!
And with the Zombie Claws equipped, his agility had increased by yet another point!
Additionally, activating the innate skill on the Zombie Claws, Ghost Shadow Claw, granted a further agility boost and a percentage increase to his attack speed!
With agility points like this, he had become a blur beyond the scope of human sight.
With this kind of speed, as long as he could breach Flesh Mountain’s defenses…
Then this colossal creature would be nothing more than meat laid out on a butcher’s block for Chen Bai!
Whoosh!
A dark silhouette slashed past like a streak of black wind!
Before anyone could react, a massive wound appeared on Flesh Mountain’s belly, revealing layers of pale fat and oil below!
Yet, the one who inflicted this wound remained utterly unseen!
“Roar!”
The monstrous roar, even from a kilometer away and despite the car, made everyone’s eardrums ache in pain.
But at this moment, no one cared about that. Every eye was fixed on Flesh Mountain, watching intently.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!
Clear sounds cut through the air like blades.
Against the black claws, Flesh Mountain’s hide, which had shrugged off bullets and shrapnel from grenades, shredded as easily as paper under a razor.
Each slash of that black shadow!
Flesh ripped open, fat split apart, dark red blood gushed out!
That towering, seemingly invincible Flesh Mountain now looked like… what exactly?
Of the group, Lu Li, known for her eloquence, gave an apt description:
Butcher Divides the Ox!
Except this wasn’t a dead ox, but a living, writhing, giant super-rhino!
Yet every sweep of that dark figure seemed more like the art of dissection than mere slaughter.
Although zombies didn’t die from injuries to the body, as with typical zombies whose arms and legs were torn off, their strength would be significantly diminished.
The critical weakness and fatal point for any zombie remained its brain.
Despite his ghost-like speed, Chen Bai acted with the patience of a venomous snake, injecting its poison and then waiting silently for the prey to die.
In his past life, many Evolvers who prided themselves on speed had, in facing Flesh Mountain’s crushing speed and agility, recklessly aimed for its head, hoping for a swift kill.
And the result?
Most of them ended up as part of Flesh Mountain’s next meal.
Speed alone wasn’t enough; one needed leverage points to accelerate and change direction mid-air. Without that, there was no escape from being cornered—death was inevitable!
Mutants, if they were mere heavy sandbags, would not be able to coexist with human Evolvers, mutant beasts, and other such beings on this Blue Star.
Indeed, this was the case!
Finally enraged beyond reason, Flesh Mountain let out a furious roar, its hulking body trembling with fury.
Suddenly, numerous lumps of flesh and tumors began writhing across its back.
One by one, grotesque arms seemed to tear their way out of the flesh.
Even at the back of its head, where a zombie’s weak spot lay, a gaping, bloody maw forced its way out!
However, Chen Bai had long anticipated this and merely let out a cold, mocking laugh.
His claws became like the most patient slicing blades.
In ancient times, there was a punishment known as Ling Chi—Death by a Thousand Cuts.
And the executioners who performed Ling Chi were masters of the art of the blade.
Now, Chen Bai exhibited the same patience as those ancient executioners.
The frenzied Flesh Mountain destroyed everything within reach, enraged yet powerless against that mocking shadow.
With a tremendous crash, the colossal chemical factory collapsed under the mutant’s onslaught.
But at this point, there wasn’t a single unscathed patch left on Flesh Mountain’s massive body!
Finally, a glint appeared in Chen Bai’s eyes. As the mutant’s movements slowed, as the twelve arms and gaping mouths on its back all curled inward—
Chen Bai leapt, landing on Flesh Mountain’s shoulder!
For the first time, he appeared in everyone’s line of sight.
The dark figure in his blood-streaked coat leaped high, hovering against the last light of the setting sun.
That dark figure blocked the final ray of sunlight, cloaked in a reddish-gold glow.
Then, that shadow extended a black claw—
It plunged straight through Flesh Mountain’s massive head!
Then,
Chen Bai drifted back to the ground without a backward glance, retracting the dark claws of the Zombie Claws, which disappeared from sight.
Behind him, Flesh Mountain’s massive body toppled with a deafening crash.
The sunset dipped below the horizon, and darkness crept over the land.
But not a single person, even a thousand meters away, shifted their gaze.
