Virus King - Chapter 99
Chapter 99: The Tyrant Appears! Who’s the Hunter, and Who’s the Prey?
TL: Yang
“What the hell?!”
At that moment, every rich kid in Jiangcheng University, along with their girlfriends, crowded at the windows, staring at the figure that had just descended from the sky!
Following the heavy thud of that landing, someone finally couldn’t hold back and exclaimed with a curse.
“Is that… a person?!”
Someone voiced their doubts immediately.
From the thirteenth floor, several dozen meters up, one could only vaguely make out a humanoid shape; any other details were impossible to see. But just then, a voice spoke up with conviction:
“It’s a person!”
Everyone turned to look. The speaker was a girl standing about 1.7 meters tall, with a sweet and pure appearance.
Just from her looks alone, she wasn’t much different from Song Ge.
Her name was Wei Shiwei.
In all of Jiangcheng University, she was a famous campus beauty. And most importantly, she was the girlfriend of “Brother Jiang,” Jiang Luoping, the leader of these rich kids’ circles.
Seeing the shock and amazement in everyone’s eyes, Wei Shiwei added,
“Did you all forget? My talent is superhuman vision; I can see really far and really clearly! That’s definitely a person!”
After receiving such a certain answer, the hotel instantly became noisy and excited:
“What the hell?! Isn’t the Ritz-Carlton at least fifteen stories high? It’s not the tallest, but that’s still got to be close to sixty meters, right?! Can a normal person even jump from that height?”
“What in the world is going on?”
“……”
Everything before their eyes challenged all their materialist beliefs.
In that moment, all those who had been preparing to leave found their attention completely absorbed.
They’d been in the hotel for days. Along the way, a few people had tried to make a break for it, but with almost no exceptions, they’d all been caught by the mad zombies roaming the streets outside, torn to shreds, and turned into fresh, delicious meat!
But now, it seemed as if they were seeing the gates to a whole new world!
Sure enough, after this Superman-like figure landed on the ground with that heavy thud, zombies began to converge on him as though suddenly activated.
And then…
“Damn… damn… damn!”
Even Jiang Luoping, typically the most mature one present, couldn’t help but mutter under his breath.
That lone figure, surrounded by zombies, didn’t even dodge. Each time he reached out, a zombie turned into chunks of flesh and blood.
Black and red blood splattered across the storefronts on either side, seeming to attract even more zombies toward him.
Yet, those demons that had once seemed unstoppable to them couldn’t even put up the slightest resistance in front of that figure!
However, only Wei Shiwei, the campus beauty who had spoken first, had an inexplicable sparkle in her eyes at this moment.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that this figure looked a bit familiar!
That strange, vivid green robe and cloak—his entire balanced form held a wicked allure.
But from their high vantage point, she still couldn’t see the figure’s face.
What was he doing?!
This question arose in everyone’s minds.
Just then, as if from a distance, a blur shot in their direction!
It moved with the speed of a cannonball, almost too fast to comprehend! It finally stopped not far away, looking down upon this dangerous prey.
Everyone looked closely and saw on the nearby street, in the railing of a second-floor window, a distinctive figure had appeared!
Just a glance at that figure made everyone feel an overwhelming chill.
It was the primal fear of weaker creatures facing a powerful predator!
The creature was a full two meters tall.
Its body was covered in black and gray muscles that seemed forged from iron.
What was most terrifying were its thick, powerful arm-claws, and the slightly bent legs with barbed hooks, all of which clearly indicated that this was no ordinary zombie!
Indeed, it wasn’t an ordinary zombie!
Among zombies, the most common yet deadly mutation in the early stages was known as the Tyrant!
So, had that man become prey to this monster?
Yet, looking at the ease and confidence with which that man moved, it seemed uncertain who was the hunter and who was the prey!
In that instant, everyone seemed to understand.
Their spirits wavered, every cell in their bodies trembled with adrenaline. Even merely watching this hunt unfold within the steel jungle sent their hearts racing.
Sensing the Tyrant’s arrival, the horde of zombies that had previously surged forward slowed down, holding back as they awaited the arrival of a true predator.
And at that moment, after studying the man carefully for some time, the Tyrant, seemingly confident in its judgment, finally made its move!
Tracing an arc through the air, its thick arm-claw, imbued with corpse poison, shot straight toward the figure below!
If that strike landed, the person’s body would likely be shattered into pieces!
In the room, everyone held their breath. In this tense situation, they naturally rooted for that strong, inhuman-looking human.
But the Tyrant was so fast!
It moved so quickly that there was barely any time to react before it was already above the figure’s head!
It’s over!
This thought filled everyone’s minds, and their courage, which had just begun to rise, was crushed once again by this chilling scene. The outside world was simply too dangerous!
Yet, just when many couldn’t bear to keep watching, the Tyrant, who had leapt into the air with its claws raised, suddenly emitted a peculiar sound right in front of everyone’s eyes.
“Achoo…”
The sound was loud, mixed with a unique growling roar, characteristic of a zombie’s virus-corroded vocal cords!
The sneeze echoed so loudly that even those ten floors up could hear it clearly.
Everyone paused, dumbfounded.
What was going on?!
This monstrous zombie… sneezed?!
Before they had time to process this, the figure in the dark green robe had already moved.
Suddenly, claws appeared on his hand, extending sharply as he clashed with the Tyrant’s powerful arm-claws.
Sparks exploded upon impact!
The two figures paused mid-air, momentarily frozen.
Then, the towering two-meter-tall Tyrant was sent flying with a fierce whipping kick from the figure. It rocketed into the sky, flying up even faster than it had descended!
Meanwhile, the green-clad figure seemed to be brimming with electric energy, propelling himself to the walls on either side, black and red streaks streaming from his entire body.
He was running along the wall!
His speed was no slower than that of the Tyrant he had just kicked dozens of meters into the sky!
Finally, as he reached the right distance, the figure abruptly turned, standing at a perfect right angle on the wall, watching the falling Tyrant descend slowly from above.
He crouched, leaving two deep footprints in the wall, then shot out like a cannonball!
However, completely focused on the Tyrant, Chen Bai had not noticed the faces inside the window beside him.
He’d planted his feet on the wall to adjust his angle, ready to strike the airborne Tyrant with absolute speed and force.
And just two meters away, through the glass window, were the utterly stunned faces staring back at him.
