Virus King - Chapter 7
Chapter 7: First Kill! Zombie Killer!
TL: YYang
“Dead!”
At that moment, Chu Xin’s mind held only this cold thought.
This… thing in front of her, this thing that looked like a person, was utterly horrifying!
Its pupils were dull, yet its bloodshot eyes blazed crimson.
Purplish-black veins bulged grotesquely across its body, and from its gaping mouth, dark red, congealed blood was visible.
From every angle, this creature could hardly be considered human, right?
Its mouth was filled with sharp, canine-like fangs that sent shivers down her spine!
Chu Xin couldn’t help but recall the zombie show she’d watched yesterday.
This creature looked far too similar to the zombies in those legends!
I don’t want to die!
I haven’t even been in a relationship yet!
I haven’t even tried *that* yet!
Despite her silent screams, her legs, clad in white silk stockings under her white nurse uniform, remained frozen in fear. Paralyzed, she could only watch as the figure lunged straight toward her!
Then, just as Chu Xin squeezed her eyes shut, it seemed like another figure had appeared before her.
It was almost like the sudden arrival of a prince on a white horse!
Unbelieving, she opened her eyes, looking forward.
It wasn’t just her; everyone in the hospital lobby near the IV drip section stared forward in astonishment.
A tall figure, hands in pockets, planted a powerful kick into the madman’s abdomen.
Then, with a burst of speed, he appeared right behind it, his hands clamping onto the mad figure like iron pincers, holding it in place as it curled up like a shrimp.
Clearly, this unexpected turn left everyone momentarily stunned, causing them to back away.
Only Chu Xin, standing close, clearly saw what happened next: the god-like figure delivered a single, sharp hand chop to the madman’s neck.
Amidst the chaos and noise, a crisp cracking sound of bone was heard—distinct but subtle.
Then, that crazed figure slumped to the ground, motionless, without the slightest struggle!
His speed and skill were beyond even the best-trained special forces!
Chu Xin’s eyes widened as if she’d been completely shocked.
But then, she noticed the figure—who seemed to have descended from the heavens—do something very odd.
He appeared to pull something out from beneath the fallen figure, a faint, concealed glow that then vanished instantly.
From any angle, it was impossible to see!
But Chu Xin paid no mind to that detail.
At this moment, immense relief left her, her legs weak, as she almost collapsed to the ground.
Then, a warm, large hand caught her just in time!
Chu Xin looked up to see an attractive face smiling warmly, asking, “Are you alright?”
Chu Xin felt as if she’d been struck by lightning.
Right then, she felt like every ounce of terror she’d just endured was worth it!
He was so handsome!
So warm!
So boyfriend-worthy, wasn’t he!?
This young nurse, who had been single for twenty years, now felt that “butterflies” from romance novels really were real!
Right now was one of those moments!
Seeing the young nurse, already in a daze, Chen Bai smiled faintly.
What a joke, huh?
With a face that even the Dark Mother Goddess favored, handling a bunny-like young nurse like her was a piece of cake!
Chen Bai took a look at the young nurse in front of him. She stood just over 1.6 meters tall—not particularly striking in height—but the curves of her figure were eye-catching, even with the loose nurse’s uniform that couldn’t fully conceal them.
“Whoa, now that’s an impressive… E for Effort,” he thought.
Below the hem of her nurse’s dress were her long, white-stockinged legs. Although he could only see a portion of her shapely calves, it was clear she was well above average.
Unfortunately, her face was partially obscured by a mask, making it hard to see her full expression. Yet, her wide, round eyes—whether from shock or something else—were innocently captivating.
Not bad at all! Chen Bai made a mental note of his assessment.
Just then, applause broke out around them.
Some elderly men and women still connected to IV drips watched this young man, whom they’d thought might be a bit off, show such remarkable skill and bravery that they began to clap in admiration.
Seeing these elderly bystanders who clearly didn’t understand the situation fully, Chen Bai felt a little speechless. Nonetheless, he offered a reminder:
“Could someone please contact the authorities?”
“Rest easy, young man! We’ve already called them. Don’t worry, we all saw what you did. The police will definitely be on your side!” one of the elderly onlookers assured him with a smile, glancing at the now “unconscious” assailant on the ground.
Chen Bai smiled back.
He hoped they’d still be saying that in a little while.
But for now, he was eager to see his gains:
[You have slain a low-level virus-evolved failed mutation! You gained XP: 1×10 = 10 points!
Currency acquired: 1×10 = 10 copper coins! First Zombie Kill completed—reward: 1 gold coin!]
[New Title Acquired: Zombie Killer!]
[Zombie Killer (F Rank Title): All attributes +1, Critical Hit Chance +1% when facing zombie-type creatures!]
(PS: Upon slaying 100 zombies, this title will evolve into E Rank title “Zombie Hunter.”)
Before long, a group of policemen arrived, looking unexpectedly hurried.
However, before any of the elderly onlookers, who’d eagerly begun explaining the incident to the officers, could finish even three sentences, their words were abruptly cut short.
For a chilling announcement left everyone in the hall on edge, so silent you could hear a pin drop:
The patient who attacked the young nurse… was dead.
