Virus King - Chapter 351
Chapter 351: Electric Sprite! Cybernetic Power Generator?
TL: YYang
The electric current moved too fast. Furthermore, with Chen Bai maneuvering in the air while controlling the Wings of Netherflame, his agility was significantly reduced compared to being on the ground.
Facing this electric strike, it was already too late to dodge.
However, Chen Bai didn’t panic. He didn’t even intend to dodge. His arm transformed instantly into a massive shield amidst the black and red flames, which he raised to block beneath his feet.
“Zzzzt!”
A crisp sound that set one’s teeth on edge echoed. The electric current pierced through, causing a slight numbness across Chen Bai’s entire body.
Even so, such an attack, which could potentially kill other Evolvers in a single blow, wasn’t much of a threat to Chen Bai. While it wasn’t exactly akin to a tickle, it definitely wasn’t dangerous either.
Chen Bai lowered his gaze, focusing on the entity that had attacked him from within the power company.
It was a peculiar being. Its head was round and smooth, but not solid. It resembled an electronic fission, with something akin to a lightning core swirling within it. It had a pair of white, translucent eyes that looked equally illusory.
Even stranger was its lower body—no legs, only a phantom-like electric vortex swirling below.
“What is this thing?”
Chen Bai was momentarily stunned, but he quickly understood.
“A Lightning Sprite?!
“But they don’t look like this…”
Across the infinite worlds, countless unknown lifeforms existed. Elemental sprites were among them—beings of fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning, manifestations of pure elemental energy that were both powerful and unique.
Chen Bai had encountered such beings before. For instance, the Balor Flame Demon he had encountered previously was a fire elemental sprite that had undergone an Abyssal Transformation, evolving over countless years into a unique elemental lifeform.
If such was the case for fire, then lightning sprites naturally existed as well.
However, lightning sprites typically had pure purple forms.
This one, however, had a blue-white body. At first glance, it resembled a wind elemental being, but the electric arc it had just launched, coupled with the lightning-core-like fluctuations emanating from its body, made it clear this little fellow was of the lightning attribute.
“Could it have mutated?!”
Chen Bai couldn’t be bothered to think too deeply. Without entering through the front entrance, he retracted his Wings of Netherflame, which transformed back into the fiery tattoo on his back. Gliding downward, he quickly passed through the power company, landing directly on the ground.
Compared to the outside world of Jiangcheng, the interior of the power company was much cleaner. At the very least, there were only a few corpses here and virtually no bloodstains. The space felt only a little desolate.
Still, as soon as Chen Bai landed, he could distinctly sense that the environment here was vastly different from the outside.
For one, the air seemed to have undergone a unique transformation.
In drier environments, static electricity was more prevalent, often influenced by clothing and weather conditions.
Now, within the power company, that feeling was amplified.
Chen Bai even felt that if two metal rods were lightly rubbed together, they could generate electricity within this place.
“Yet no one’s started a fire here?”
Finally, Chen Bai laid eyes on the creature that had just attacked. Indeed, it was an elemental sprite.
However, the initial feedback from the Eye of Secrets left Chen Bai momentarily startled:
[Electric Sprite (Level 22 BOSS)]
[Born under the influence of cosmic magnetic fields, residual electrical sources of Blue Star, and a combination of unique conditions, this special creature possesses exceptional potential and power!]
[Attributes: Omitted]
[Skills: Static Field, Electromagnetic Storm, Super-Powered Eye, Thunderbolt, Electric Energy Transfer, Electric Energy Absorption, Overcharged Growth!]
“This thing?!”
Chen Bai blinked. Instead of immediately attacking, he looked on with interest.
Come to think of it, within the depths of the Plague Sewer, there had been a Plague Spirit—a similarly mutated elemental being with abilities centered around plague powers. Now, another mutated elemental being had appeared here, this time an Electric Sprite.
Its level and power were not bad, and the fact that the Eye of Secrets noted its significant potential confirmed it.
A level 22 BOSS wasn’t much of a threat to Chen Bai. Still, looking at the Electric Sprite, Chen Bai felt intrigued. Killing it wasn’t necessary; there were plenty of other choices besides slaughter.
The next moment, faint spiritual waves emanated from the Shepherd’s Horn on his head.
The Electric Sprite, which had been tense and surrounded by flashing lightning, froze for a moment. In the next second, the white light in its eyes dimmed, and it stared at Chen Bai with complete submission.
Chen Bai beckoned, and the previously aggressive Electric Sprite obediently floated over, as docile as a kitten.
The Shepherd’s Horn’s control was far more powerful than that of the Biochemical Disaster ability. It was more terrifying and thorough.
The Biochemical Disaster’s control lasted only briefly and had many limitations, such as losing connection over long distances.
However, the Shepherd’s Horn’s ability was complete control of the spirit and soul. Unless Chen Bai died or the controlled creature’s strength surpassed his, breaking the control, it would remain part of the Shepherd’s “flock” for life.
Chen Bai examined the peculiar Electric Sprite, focusing on its skill set.
When he looked, his eyes lit up with surprise.
[Overcharged Growth: Every time electric current passes through its body, it gains experience and level increases proportional to the current’s strength!]
[Electric Energy Transfer: Converts and transfers electric energy.]
[Electric Energy Absorption: Absorbs any form of electricity or lightning-based energy.]
Staring at the big-headed Electric Sprite, Chen Bai fell into thought.
“Could this thing… serve as a post-apocalyptic power generator? A transformer, maybe?”
“A cybernetic power generator?”
To his surprise, the idea seemed highly plausible.
