Virus King - Chapter 231
Chapter 231: Plague Rat Demon! Abyssal Reform?
TL: YYang
The Power of the Abyss enveloped all the ratmen, but as expected, nothing surprised Chen Bai. The Abyssal Will quickly provided him with the most straightforward feedback:
“The level difference between you and the target is too vast. Conversion cannot be completed!”
The abyssal reform ability, at present, could only transform beings of E-Rank or below.
As for converting living creatures, Chen Bai had yet to attempt it.
However, based on the feedback from the Power of the Abyss, it was clearly possible!
Without hesitation, Chen Bai directly instructed the ratman to leap into the depths of the Abyssal Well.
Simultaneously, the power of the abyss wrapped around it once more.
This time, a piercing, blood-curdling shriek echoed from within.
Countless ratmen standing near the Abyssal Well shuddered at the sound.
To Chen Bai, the Abyssal Well was a source of power.
But to creatures outside the abyss, it was the most terrifying demonic pit in existence. Anything that entered would be consumed, leaving not even bones behind—a place of pure terror!
However, because of the abyssal reform power Chen Bai had left within the ratman, while the cries were harrowing, Chen Bai could feel that the mutated ratman had not perished!
On the contrary, the Power of the Abyss, bolstered by the Abyssal Well, continued to strengthen. The mutated ratman was still undergoing changes.
The abyss was reshaping and transforming its form!
Chen Bai didn’t have to wait long. He stood above the Abyssal Well, receiving streams of feedback from it.
[Accepting new species: abilities, soul, body, and bloodline recorded into the abyss.]
As expected, the abyss could encompass everything. All beings that entered the abyss would transform into Abyssal Creatures.
The most obvious proof was the Koutao Fish Demon Chen Bai had encountered before.
In the myriad worlds, he had heard of the fishman race many times.
It seemed the Koutao Fish Demon had originated from these fishmen, transformed after mutation.
Now, as for this mutated ratman, what would it become in the abyss?
A few minutes later, the Abyssal Well expelled something, as if spitting it out.
It was the ratman transformed by the Power of the Abyss.
Yet this mutated ratman had undergone a drastic change!
Its height remained nearly the same, still no more than 1.1 to 1.2 meters tall.
However, its previously frail body had become noticeably bulkier. The sharp fangs on its rodent-like head were even more pronounced, and its claws gleamed dangerously!
[Abyssal reform complete. New species recorded: Plague Rat Demon. Abilities: Sharp Fangs and Claws, Enhanced Speed, Power of Plague…]
[The new species will spawn in extremely low quantities during each demon birth event.]
Chen Bai’s eyes lit up. As expected, it worked!
The abyssal reform ability, while effective on items, primarily focused on consuming and transforming living creatures.
The abyss was like the dark reflection of the multiverse.
Any lifeform or species that entered would be consumed and remade by the abyss.
The ratmen—or rather, the Plague Rat Demons—were only the beginning.
Moreover, the Authority of Plague still granted Chen Bai control over the Plague Rat Demons. Satisfied, he nodded approvingly.
He then activated the Power of the Abyss and enveloped all the bewildered mutated ratmen.
One by one, like dumplings being dropped into boiling water, they plunged into the Abyssal Well!
Chen Bai didn’t linger at the well’s edge, waiting idly.
Instead, within the 1st Layer of the Abyss, he exercised his personal authority for the first time!
His first action was to identify a vast cavern within the abyss, designating it as the future territory for the Plague Rat Demons.
At the same time, Chen Bai manipulated the Abyssal Well, using the Abyssal Overlord’s Will to make adjustments.
In the future, whenever Demon Eggs spawned, all Plague Rat Demon offspring would be confined within the vast cavern he had designated.
He intended to establish this as a temporary territory for the Plague Rat Demon Clan.
However, Chen Bai wondered whether, after the abyssal transformation was complete, these Plague Rat Demons would fully inherit the demons’ violent tendencies, which often led to relentless infighting.
If that were the case, he would need to adjust his strategy slightly.
For now, he considered halting the collection and transformation of plague creatures.
Still, this was merely an experiment. No matter the outcome, it would not significantly impact his plans.
With that thought, Chen Bai shook his head and closed his eyes again, extending his perception through the Abyssal Authority across the 1st to 9th Layers of the Abyss.
The chaos of the abyss caused immense internal conflict.
As it was true that demons could only grow stronger through mutual slaughter, a structured civilization seemed contrary to their nature.
However, Chen Bai believed that slaughter and battle didn’t necessarily have to be lawless or utterly chaotic.
It was precisely because of this unchecked chaos that, despite the abyss being a place of terror filled with countless powerful beings, the number of true Demon Gods birthed from the abyss remained relatively small.
Chen Bai felt it was his responsibility, as the Abyssal Overlord, to bring change to the abyss’s current state!
At the very least, designating a safe zone within each layer of the Abyss was necessary.
Such safe zones could be built around centers like Redo’s Merchant Guild, with Demon Lords serving as enforcers and managers, under the constraints of the Abyssal Will.
Additionally, certain facilities, such as arenas and shops, would be essential, especially in the more populated layers with concentrated demon activity.
Yet, accomplishing all of this on his own would be extremely challenging.
The Abyssal Authority could not be shared with others, nor could outsiders be allowed to meddle. The abyss’s unique environment made such changes exceptionally difficult.
Fortunately, Chen Bai quickly identified potential allies for discussion.
The Succubus Queen Mekanshut and Winifred, both immensely powerful figures in the abyss, came to mind. Furthermore, Mekanshut and Winifred’s intelligent Fourth Head were renowned for their strategic wisdom.
Additionally, the God of Undead, Gabul, who lacked the violent and bloodthirsty tendencies typical of demons, also seemed like a suitable collaborator.
These individuals were excellent candidates for negotiation.
After all, strengthening the abyss’s power would undoubtedly benefit these abyssal lords as well.
Chen Bai had never been one to hesitate. Once he made up his mind, he immediately prepared to act.
After ensuring the Plague Rat Demons emerged from the Abyssal Well and settled them into their cavernous territory, he no longer concerned himself with these “subjects” under his Authority of Plague.
Instead, his eyes glimmered with determination.
Reform!
The abyss needed a comprehensive overhaul, a transformation from top to bottom!
