Virus King - Chapter 205
Chapter 205: Abyssal Transformation! Dark Devour · Spear of Longinus!
TL: YYang
At that moment, from Chen Bai’s perspective, it felt as though he had descended over the entirety of the 1st Layer of the Abyss, overlooking everything in his sight.
Within the Abyssal Well, it seemed as though everything was reflected onto Chen Bai’s body. This immense power was coursing through him, rippling outward. Under the authority of the Abyss, Chen Bai was omnipotent!
Was this the supreme authority? Was this the power of the Abyssal Overlord?
Chen Bai glanced at his own palm, belatedly comprehending. After seizing control of this Abyssal layer, he could sense that, at will, he could move to any location within this layer.
At the same time, none of the creatures inhabiting the 1st Layer of the Abyss could defy his will or resist his commands!
This was the Abyss!
Chen Bai paused, opened his eyes, and felt the submission of those demons in their very souls. Only then did he turn his attention to his newly acquired abilities.
Conquering the 1st Layer granted only a marginal attribute boost, a mere token improvement. However, the accumulation of Abyssal authority was a matter of continuous, steady growth!
From the 1st Layer to the 9th Layer, none had Abyssal Lords. Once Chen Bai fully controlled them all, he would gain a total boost of 45 points to all attributes.
These benefits were secondary for now. Chen Bai’s focus was on another ability—one he didn’t entirely understand:
Abyssal Transformation!
In the vast expanse of the Abyssal Well, darkness swirled ominously.
In Chen Bai’s hand, an object had already materialized:
[Zombie Mask (F-Rank)]
This initial piece of equipment, which had accompanied him from the start, was Chen Bai’s very first item. He had kept it as a memento.
Now, however, the time had come.
The moment Chen Bai extended his hand, an endless corrosive force emanated from the mask, completely enveloping it.
From this perspective, it resembled the fungal carpet formed by the Darklight Virus as it consumed organic matter.
To be fair, the power of the Darklight Virus did bear a slight resemblance to the Abyss’ transformative force in certain ways.
In just a few seconds, the Abyssal corrosive force receded back into Chen Bai’s body.
The once blood-soaked and grotesque Zombie Mask had undergone a drastic transformation!
The pitch-black mask remained, but the zombie tooth motif had morphed into the fangs of a demon!
[Demon Mask (E-Rank)]
[All Attributes +3]
[Demon’s Kiss: Provides a life-stealing effect. Upon killing an enemy, recover stamina, spirit strength, and heal injuries!]
[Requirements: Evolver ≥ Level 1]
[PS: Using the power of the Abyss to transform this seems a bit wasteful, but the will of the great Abyssal Overlord is absolute!]
Reading the final note, Chen Bai’s eyelid twitched. He couldn’t help but feel a bit speechless.
Still, he now fully understood the effects of Abyssal Transformation.
What would happen if human Evolvers were subjected to Abyssal Transformation?!
Suddenly, a flash of light illuminated Chen Bai’s vision. In the next moment, a unique item appeared in his hand!
The instant it manifested, a crackling sound accompanied by a burning, stinging sensation coursed through his palm.
Indeed, what Chen Bai had taken out was none other than the sacred artifact he had obtained in a special secret realm: the Spear of Longinus!
This weapon of light, capable of eradicating aberrants, was the ultimate bane for demons.
However, just as the burning sensation arose, it vanished completely in the blink of an eye.
The Power of the Abyss had wrapped itself tightly around the spear, and the radiant force within it seemed to be steadily fading away!
What would this holy, upgradable spear of light become after being enveloped and transformed by the infinite darkness of the Abyss?
Yet this time, Chen Bai was disappointed.
The Abyssal power dissipated quickly, leaving behind a message:
[Your power is insufficient to transform the Spear of Longinus…]
Chen Bai frowned. “Isn’t this spear just F-Rank? Why can’t it be transformed?”
The weapon strongly resisted his power. If it couldn’t be used for himself, he could always reward someone else with it. However, Chen Bai felt reluctant to part with it. Though he didn’t care much for weapons, his role as the Abyssal Overlord meant that no entity or item within his awareness could be allowed to resist his command!
Thus, the Power of the Abyss once again enveloped the spear. This time, Chen Bai hurled the holy spear, still wrapped in remnants of broken light, directly into the Abyssal Well.
The next moment, as Chen Bai’s will surged forth, faint ripples appeared on the surface of the Abyssal Well. In less than ten seconds, Chen Bai extended his hand.
From the Abyssal Well, a shadow emerged, spat out by the darkness!
It was a long spear.
Its entire body was jet-black, gleaming with a sharp, cold light.
Blood-red edges adorned its sides, and the swirling darkness around it hinted at its ominous nature.
Chen Bai’s eyes lit up as he gazed at the drastically transformed “holy spear”:
[Dark Devour (E-Rank)]
[Weapon Type: Polearm (Upgradable)]
[All Attributes +2]
[Life’s Wail: Inflicts +100% damage to all enemies.]
[Slaughter Spear: Killing living beings grants experience points. Upon reaching full experience, the weapon evolves! Current EXP: (0/10).]
[PS: Even so-called holy sons or children of light can only succumb to the Abyss…]
Looking at the jet-black spear, Chen Bai burst into laughter.
Though he wasn’t particularly invested in weapons, a weapon capable of evolving to SS-Rank was undeniably exceptional.
Once again, the Power of the Abyss had not let him down!
Holding the spear in his hand, the previous searing pain had completely disappeared. In its place was a sense of connection, as if the weapon was now a part of his very being, docile and harmonious.
It felt like a loyal cat purring under its master’s touch.
Abyssal Transformation truly lived up to its reputation.
Lifting the spear, Chen Bai vanished into the void.
He was eager to test his newfound power and see how the true gods of the Abyss would react upon encountering him again.
Particularly the Eternal Night Monarch, ranked second among the Seventy-Two Demon Gods.
Agares, who had played a role in sending Chen Bai to the 600th Layer of the Abyss to witness Satan’s Life Imprint, still believed that victory belonged to his master.
Would he still think that after meeting Chen Bai now?
