Chapter 115: Attitude is Important
TL: Etude
“Who’s looking for me?” Chen Jianghai raised his eyebrows slightly and asked as he looked at Lin Wanqiu.
“A young girl,” Lin Wanqiu replied, her tone carrying a hint of jealousy.
Chen Jianghai then understood why Lin Wanqiu’s tone was a bit strange.
“Alright, I’ll go see,” he said, putting down his tools. He turned to Zhao Rongxin and instructed, “Continue fixing this radio, and then deal with those televisions. Be careful and ask if you have any questions.”
Lin Wanqiu didn’t say anything and turned to leave first.
Outside, Chen Jianghai saw that the girl Lin Wanqiu mentioned was Zhu Yinyin, whom he had met twice before.
“So it’s you,” he greeted her with a smile.
Zhu Yinyin bit her lip and asked, “Brother Chen, does what you told me last time still count?”
“Of course, it does,” Chen Jianghai replied directly.
At his answer, a hint of joy flashed across Zhu Yinyin’s face.
Lin Wanqiu, listening to their conversation with keen interest, wondered: What had they talked about before?
“Then I’m willing,” Zhu Yinyin responded.
In fact, Zhu Yinyin had come here the day after Chen Jianghai had spoken to her. However, at that time, the shop hadn’t opened yet, and she thought Chen Jianghai was deceiving her. But yesterday, when she heard from a friend about a new electronics shop on Pozijie Street doing well with a lottery event, she remembered Chen Jianghai’s words.
She realized this could be a chance to change her destiny and decided to seize it. So, after a night of thought, she came directly today.
Lin Wanqiu, unable to contain her curiosity, asked, “Jianghai, what are you two talking about?”
“From today on, she will be your apprentice. Whatever she tells you to do, do it,” Chen Jianghai said, pulling Lin Wanqiu over and introducing her to Zhu Yinyin.
Lin Wanqiu was stunned and pointed at herself: “Me? Her master?”
“Yes,” Chen Jianghai confirmed with a smile. “You’re the boss’s wife; you shouldn’t be working here every day.”
He had never intended to put much effort into this repair shop from the beginning. Therefore, it was unnecessary for Lin Wanqiu to waste too much time here.
“What are you talking about!” Lin Wanqiu blushed and rebuked.
Knowing that Zhu Yinyin was here for work, Lin Wanqiu’s suspicions vanished, but she couldn’t help feeling a bit threatened.
Zhu Yinyin was young and beautiful, and having such a girl around her man naturally made her cautious.
Especially since Chen Jianghai was so outstanding at the moment.
“By the way, do your family members know about you working here?” Chen Jianghai asked.
Zhu Yinyin nodded quickly: “Yes, I told them, and they agreed.”
“That’s good,” Chen Jianghai said. “In your free time, you can read and review in the shop.”
“Thank you, Brother Chen!” Zhu Yinyin was somewhat excited; this was all she wanted.
“As for the salary…”
Chen Jianghai paused for a moment, then turned to Lin Wanqiu and said, “Wanqiu, you decide on that.”
Before Lin Wanqiu could respond, Chen Jianghai turned and went back to the storeroom. He knew well that setting the salary himself was tricky – too high or too low could both be problematic. More importantly, he needed to show a certain attitude.
Having seen his wife’s reaction earlier, he didn’t want any misunderstandings. Therefore, it seemed better to let Lin Wanqiu handle it, distancing himself from the matter and maintaining a professional distance from Zhu Yinyin. He didn’t want his good deed to cause any unease in Lin Wanqiu.
Lin Wanqiu was momentarily flustered, unsure of how much to pay. “Well… work with me for a day, and let’s see how capable you are,” she eventually said to Zhu Yinyin.
Zhu Yinyin earnestly responded, “Master, don’t worry, I’ll definitely learn well from you.”
…
That evening, back at home, Xue Chunli had already prepared dinner. “Jianghai, dear, we’ll need to go back home in a couple of days,” she said hesitantly during the meal.
Chen Jianghai asked, “Mom, is there something happening at home?”
“Yes, some minor matters need to be taken care of,” Lin Jianguo vaguely replied.
Lin Wanqiu, sensing something was amiss, pressed, “Mom, Dad, what is it really? Please don’t hide anything from us!”
“It’s just some issues with the family home; we need to go back,” Xue Chunli explained.
Seeing their reluctance to elaborate, Chen Jianghai didn’t press further. Lin Wanqiu also wanted to ask more but was stopped by a look from Chen Jianghai.
“Wanqiu, take your parents shopping for whatever they need tomorrow,” Chen Jianghai instructed after dinner.
Xue Chunli quickly waved her hand, “There’s no need, you two are busy, don’t worry about us.”
“Mom, Dad, just listen to Jianghai,” Lin Wanqiu interjected.
Seeing the young couple’s insistence, Xue Chunli smiled contentedly and said no more.
Chen Jianghai added, “There’s a refurbished TV in the shop, almost new. Let Zhanggui bring it over tomorrow, and you can take it with you when you go back.”
“Okay!” Lin Wanqiu happily agreed.
Lin Jianguo, rubbing his hands and smiling, said, “Jianghai, I… I don’t even know what to say.”
“Dad, it’s nothing. It’s only right to take care of you both,” Chen Jianghai replied nonchalantly.
Seeing Chen Jianghai’s demeanor, Xue Chunli was filled with joy, and any last bit of worry in her heart dissipated. She had been concerned that Chen Jianghai might hold a grudge against them or Lin Wanqiu, but his impeccable attitude towards them and his wife proved her worries unnecessary.
The next day, Chen Jianghai went to the shop while Lin Wanqiu took Xue Chunli and Lin Jianguo shopping. After discussing the previous night, Xue Chunli decided to return home today.
With time being tight, Lin Wanqiu was not in the mood to work.
Chen Jianghai had gotten up early and arrived at the shop just after eight. To his surprise, he was the last to arrive.
Zhao Zhanggui was already at the door like a statue. Zhu Yinyin and Zhao Rongxin were busy sweeping, and Fang Aiguo was cleaning the counter.
“Morning, Brother Hai!”
“Good morning, Brother Hai!”
Everyone stopped their work to warmly greet him. Zhu Yinyin was an exception; she just nodded at Chen Jianghai as a greeting.
“Today, Wanqiu can’t come. Aiguo, Zhanggui, keep an eye on the shop, and feel free to teach her,” Chen Jianghai said, pointing to Zhu Yinyin.
Fang Aiguo immediately patted his chest, “Brother Hai, don’t worry, I’ll teach her well.”
“Good, Rongxin, come with me,” Chen Jianghai said and then headed into the storeroom with Zhao Rongxin.
