Chapter 396: The Power of the Cannons! The Fear of the God-Kings!
TL: Sungmin
More and more armies began to converge upon the City of Wicked Sages.
The immense pressure had already altered the sky and land, causing the grass and trees to wither.
A thick stench of death filled the air!
It was enough to make people retch!
Zeus coldly gazed at the massive Dwarven Bunker before him. “Looks like all these cowards have holed up inside, like a bunch of turtles. Odin, what do you think? Shall we have some fun?”
Upon hearing this, Odin, standing nearby, pondered for a moment. “Only one side of this bunker is exposed, but it’s still dozens of miles across. The dwarves really are something… they actually managed to build a fortress of this scale.”
From a distance, the fortress looked like a towering wall, as if it were cutting off half the world.
A truly astonishing sight.
Standing before it, human figures were as insignificant as specks of dust beneath its colossal form.
“Tch, I meant what are you going to do? Are we going to storm it head-on, or should we just call out to those rats inside and taunt them a little?” Zeus smirked playfully.
Odin finally realized what he meant and nodded. “Let’s talk to them. After all, it’s been millennia since we’ve encountered something actually worth our time.”
“…And what if they really are colluding with that Evil God?” Horus swallowed hard as he spoke.
It wasn’t just speculation—he was genuinely afraid of the Black Goat Mother Goddess.
She was a Dominion-Level existence.
Hela rolled her eyes at him, clearly annoyed. “Just say it outright—there’s no way those guys have any connection to that Evil God. Look at you, acting all cowardly!”
Horus smacked his lips but didn’t respond, his expression laced with sarcasm.
Then, after a brief pause, he muttered, “I may be cowardly, but then why do you only dare to call her ‘that Evil God’ instead of saying her actual name?”
For an existence like the Black Goat Mother Goddess, even uttering her name could lead to backlash, rapidly draining one’s sanity!
“You—!”
Hela was at a loss for words, her icy, porcelain-like face twisting with anger.
A powerful surge of frost erupted from her, spreading in all directions!
In an instant, snow and wind filled the sky!
The temperature plummeted, sending chills down everyone’s spines!
The gathered Gods felt deeply uneasy.
Odin, watching from the side like a bystander enjoying a show, chuckled. “Horus, you’d better apologize quickly, or you’re in for some real trouble.”
“Hmph, no need! This kind of attack is exactly what I wanted!”
Behind Horus, his Fiery Wings burst into blazing flames, their scorching light dazzling and intense!
The heat forcefully melted the snow and ice, raising the temperature again.
But the very next second—
“Awoooooo—!!!”
A long, drawn-out, blood-curdling howl tore through the sky!
Horus felt a violent shiver run through his body!
Even though he wasn’t actually cold—hell, he was literally on fire—
A horrifying chill still crept up his spine, making his hair stand on end!
Slowly, Horus turned his head—
And met a pair of massive, lantern-like, blood-red eyes glaring straight at him!
Accompanied by a savage, grinning maw full of razor-sharp fangs!
A beastly, guttural growl rumbled through the air, deafening and menacing!
“Huff…”
With each exhale from the monstrous creature, Horus felt his heart tighten, a chilling dread washing over him!
Standing behind him was a two-thousand-meter-tall black giant wolf!
Its pitch-black fur bristled, making it appear even larger and more terrifying!
It looked as if, at any moment, it would lunge forward and rip Horus apart.
This was ‘Gri’ffin,’ the divine-blooded magical beast raised and nurtured by Hela.
In terms of combat power, it was nearly at the Peak Prime God Level.
However, massive magical beasts like this were more suited for large-scale battles. Against smaller Prime Gods like Poseidon, there was simply no comparison.
After all, no matter how strong one was—nobody wanted to get bitten by a giant wolf.
Horus immediately caved. “Lady Hela, I apologize! Can you please keep your pet under control?”
Hearing this, Hela finally relented. “Hmph. Next time, you won’t get off so easy.”
She whistled, and the colossal Gri’ffin suddenly vanished into the swirling snow.
An astonishing display!
Odin chuckled as he watched. “Haha, Horus, you know how Hela is. As compensation, why don’t you go call those guys out?”
Though Horus felt irritated, he was also the weakest among the God-Kings.
Even if he didn’t want to go, he had no choice.
So, flapping his Fiery Wings, he turned into a blazing comet and shot forward.
As he neared the Dwarven Bunker, he suddenly pulled to an abrupt stop!
“Hmm?!”
Hovering mid-air, Horus froze, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
A look of shock flashed across his face as he stared at the colossal wall in front of him.
Upon closer inspection, he finally saw it—
Densely packed, pitch-black cannon barrels, stretching as far as the eye could see, all aimed directly at him!
A suffocating sight.
One more step, and he’d likely be within firing range.
But as a God-King, how could he back down so easily?
“Hmph, cheap tricks like these wouldn’t even scratch my defenses—”
Just now, he had simply reacted out of instinct.
He immediately cast a spell, forming a barrier of flames around his body.
‘Sun God’s Protection.’
This barrier had low defensive power, but its terrifyingly high temperature was enough to melt even the hardest alloys in an instant.
Moreover, it contained multiple layers of magic, possessing a powerful gravitational force that could absorb molten objects and convert them into energy.
It maximized the safety of the user.
Once Horus was prepared, he flew forward a few steps.
Behind the mass of black cannon muzzles—
Lin Tian and the others were each manning a turret. “Magic turrets, fire! Everyone else, hold your attacks!”
This high-temperature barrier could only defend against physical attacks.
However, magic cannons could easily pierce through such heat shields and strike their target.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The next second—
A barrage of radiant energy shells, powered by magic energy stones, blasted forth!
Their speed was terrifying—aside from Zeus, no one could possibly dodge them!
They varied in size, and the types of attacks also differed.
Some shells were even imbued with multiple enchantments, capable of inflicting debilitating status effects upon impact.
Seeing the magic shells streaking toward him—
Horus’s previously arrogant expression vanished in an instant, and he immediately turned to flee!
Unfortunately for him, there was no way he could outrun the speed of these specially designed turret shells.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!!”
Blinding flashes exploded upon impact with his body!
Luckily, not all of them hit him directly—he was blasted away before the full barrage could land. The shells that went past their maximum range scattered wildly, missing their mark.
Still, Horus spat blood on the spot—one of his legs was blown off, his arm was severed,
And his waist was blasted open, revealing his bright red internal organs!
He crashed to the ground.
—Far away.
Zeus furrowed his brows. “What the hell is he doing? He actually got torn apart by those shells?! Was his shield that fragile? Useless trash!”
The other God-Kings also looked embarrassed.
Though God-Kings weren’t indestructible, they possessed immense magical power and formidable skills.
Logically, defensive abilities at their level shouldn’t be so easily broken, even by a Peak Prime God.
“Should we go save him?”
From below, Poseidon raised a column of water with his magic and floated up beside Zeus, asking in a low voice.
Zeus only snorted. “Save my ass! If a God-King is weak enough to die here, then let him die! Makes it easier to reclaim his Divine Core!”
—Amidst the ruins.
Horus’s face was filled with rage. “Magic attacks?! They actually have turrets like these?! Damn it!”
In his mind, turrets were merely physical weapons—explosive force and raw impact.
His shield should have absorbed the heat of those blasts and grown even stronger.
But instead—
This magical nature of the attack had repelled his shield, piercing straight through it.
In that brief moment, he had taken a direct hit from at least a thousand shells!
And each one had been infused with magic-draining, poison, paralysis, and other status ailments!
“Solar Flare Halo!”
Horus activated another spell.
His injuries rapidly regenerated before the naked eye, flesh and bones knitting back together.
Soon, he was completely restored—though at the cost of some of his magic.
Even so, he no longer dared to rush forward recklessly. Instead, he sneered coldly.
“Hahaha! Loael, Xiya, Phoenix! What a grand welcome you’ve given me!”
Because Hermes had delivered only limited information,
Mainly warning about the bunker’s breach, the revival of the Old Gods, and that he himself could not resurrect,
The Gods still believed that the ones orchestrating everything were merely the God-Kings of the Old Divine Pantheon—Star Sea, Moon Palace, and Sun Hall.
—Behind the bunker.
Lin Tian stood at the control panel, looking at the distant figure. “Who’s Phoenix?”
At this, Loael answered gravely. “She was once the God-King of the Sun Hall, our Big Sis. But… we haven’t found her yet.”
“Could it be that she hasn’t been reborn?” Lin Tian seemed to suddenly understand, then asked again.
Loael shook her head. “Big Sis was probably the first to be reborn. Since we haven’t seen any sign of her until now, she might have been reborn in another realm. Or worse—she might be in the Abomination World.”
At these words—
Everyone nearby, including One-Eyed Owl and Alice, stiffened.
The Abomination World… just how terrifying was that place?
Surviving there seemed almost impossible.
Lin Tian paused briefly but chose not to dwell on it. “Then for now, you should speak for us.”
Loael then raised her voice. “Horus, I can’t believe a weakling like you is still alive. You just lucked out and got Phoenix’s Divine Core, that’s all! And yet, even with the strongest Divine Core, you’re still so pathetic! Honestly, it’s a shame we didn’t blow you up completely!”
Hearing this, Horus instantly thought of someone.
“Hehehe, Loael? Is that you, Loael of the Star Sea?”
—In the distance.
Zeus and the others, listening through their magically enhanced hearing, all reacted with shock!
“It’s really her! The Old Gods actually revived!” Odin was visibly stunned.
Zeus’s lips curled into a twisted smirk. “So what if they’ve revived? We’ll just kill them again. Actually… wouldn’t it be better to make them into our slaves first? Have them serve us every day…”
He couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Once-God-Kings, reduced to slaves—
To be used, commanded, and toyed with at will!
Just imagining it sent a thrill down his spine.
Pure ecstasy!
As a man, Odin naturally understood. “Yeah, that one called Xiya… Every time I fought her, I was distracted by her beauty. Too bad the Abomination Evil God didn’t know how to appreciate beauty and just slaughtered her outright.”
Hela snorted beside him. “That was because the Abomination Evil God was in a killing frenzy. We never intended to kill her in the first place. So, what are you all planning to do now?”
“Let’s see how they negotiate first,” Zeus said casually.
…
Outside the bunker, within a safe distance—
Horus gritted his teeth in fury. “Shut up! Even if I’m the weakest God-King, I am still a God-King! Unlike you lot—stray dogs hiding inside!”
“Then why don’t you come in?” Loael mocked.
Then she suddenly froze, realizing that she hadn’t been like this before.
She hadn’t expected Lin Tian’s influence to change her so much—
She was actually enjoying toying with the enemy.
Horus became even more enraged. “You! You better think this through! If you surrender and beg for mercy, you might still live. Otherwise, you’ll be facing every God! A three-hundred-million-strong army of Twelfth-Tier beings! And complete war against the entire present world!!!”
His voice boomed like thunder, filled with unbridled fury.
Hearing this—
Loael couldn’t help but flinch. “These bastards…”
Just hearing about such an enemy would make anyone’s legs go weak, their vision go dark.
The sheer overwhelming scale of it—
It was like entering a boxing match—only to look up and see Mike Tyson standing in the ring.
Then Tyson says he’s just the referee—
And your real opponent is Taro from the M78 Nebula!
The dwarves who had been in the dark about the situation completely lost it.
“What… ALL the Gods?! That many troops?! Are we really at war with the entire world?!”
“Forget returning to the surface—this means we’re going to be buried underground forever!”
“This is insane! Absolutely insane! What crime did we even commit to deserve this?!”
A mix of dwarves, magical beings, and humans who had just entered the bunker erupted into full-blown panic.
Even Lin Tian thought these gods were more insane than he was.
But there was one person—completely unfazed.
Sara, manning one of the magic turrets, was thrilled beyond belief.
“Father! Ancestors! Do you see this?! I am standing against the entire world! What an honor!”
Lin Tian gave her a blank, deadpan stare, as if looking at a complete idiot, then ignored her.
Instead, he calmly reassured the others.
“Everyone, don’t worry. With these turrets, wiping out a few hundred million troops is just a matter of time.”
Gobu Kuang, still shaken from earlier, scratched his head. “Yeah! You all saw it, didn’t you? That so-called God-King was nearly blasted to death! They’re nothing special!”
At those words—
The originally terrified dwarves, magical beings, and humans visibly relaxed.
Their enthusiasm for manning the turrets and handling ammunition was reignited.
Seeing this, Loael also placed her faith in Lin Tian.
“Hmph, that small army of yours is nothing to us! This time, we’ve returned with endless wrath! You’d better prepare for death!”
…
Outside the bunker, Horus’s face twisted with rage.
“Fine. I already gave you a chance—now all you can do is pray! Oh, but of course—pray to us, your gods! Hahaha!”
With that, he turned and flew back.
After all, they were the gods of this era—so anyone who prayed would only be praying to them.
The mockery couldn’t have been clearer.
“Lord Zeus, those fools refuse to change their ways. Should we just strike now? I can’t wait to roast them alive!”
Horus’s eyes burned with flames, his Fiery Wings radiating intense heat.
In his view, this bunker could be easily taken down.
The moment he unleashed his Sun Domain, everything within several kilometers would turn to scorched wasteland.
Those hiding inside the bunker would be instantly incinerated.
Zeus casually waved his hand.
“Killing them would be a waste. Capturing them, breaking them, making them our playthings—that’s where the real fun is. Don’t you agree?”
Horus’s eyes gleamed with realization.
“Right! I almost forgot—those women are absolute beauties! Hahaha!”
The two of them laughed—cruel and twisted.
Odin gave a light cough.
“On a more serious note—we’ve already agreed. They must be captured alive. Toying with them is secondary.
What’s important is interrogating them—to learn how they revived and where this power that can directly kill Gods comes from!”
