Chapter 332: The Scales of Judgment and Lucky Steal—Bring It Here!
TL: Sungmin
Faced with the hundreds of identical heretical creatures, Adam couldn’t help but feel a wave of nausea. “So these are the filth of the Heretical World? Absolutely revolting.”
No sane person would ever find a heretic’s mental attacks pleasant.
“Well, I do apologize for that!” Veronica’s voice rang out, sharp and brimming with confidence. “Today, I’ll defeat your Church’s Heaven once again!”
Her prior battle with the Church had ended in her victory.
The only unforeseen factor had been the seemingly insignificant goblin that turned out to be the opportunistic predator lurking in the shadows.
But Veronica had come to terms with it all, especially since she was now living the life she truly desired.
She turned to Lin Tian. “Thanks to that fruit you gave me, I gained the effect of Soul Mark! I can control heretics with combat power exceeding mine by twofold!”
In other words, Veronica’s own combat strength was roughly equivalent to that of a Demon King, just reaching twenty thousand.
With this, she could command heretical beings with combat power as high as forty thousand—such as these Eerie Lords.
“I see. Then I’ll leave it to you!” Lin Tian remarked with slight surprise.
This summoning build of hers was truly insane.
A swarm of Eerie Lords began charging at Adam, intent on trapping him and slowly grinding him down.
Boom!
A single punch, delivered at ten times the speed of sound, smashed through them.
To everyone’s shock, the strike resulted in an instant kill.
Fragments of viscous black remains exploded like celebratory fireworks.
The enormous four-to-five-meter-tall Lords, whose grotesque bodies were covered in dense, mismatched limbs, had massive amounts of health.
Adam had eight teleportations left, but the tenfold supersonic punch could be used indefinitely!
This was his exclusive Mythic-Class battle technique, developed out of boredom in Eden after countless punches.
It was practically a normal attack!
A normal attack that could nearly guarantee death to anyone it struck.
How terrifying.
Unfortunately, the particular heretic controlled by Veronica happened to counter him perfectly.
Even though Adam could kill with every punch, two fists were no match for hundreds of hands.
Gradually, as the curses weakened him, Adam’s speed began to falter.
The Eerie Lords kept gathering around him, forcing Adam to use one of his teleportations to escape. He quickly shouted, “Michael! Cleanse me!”
“Got it!”
Michael was just about to act when she sensed an overwhelming killing intent barreling toward her.
Turning her head, she saw Lin Tian rushing in with the Wrath of Annihilation. She flapped her wings in a panic to evade the incoming slash.
Swish!
Snow-white feathers, glowing faintly gold, fluttered through the air.
Michael narrowly avoided being crippled.
The Wrath of Annihilation was an elemental weapon, its molten blade capable of slicing through even the toughest alloys.
An angel’s natural resistance was no match for it.
Helpless, Michael called out, “Adam, these goblins are keeping me pinned down! I can’t break free!”
Hearing this, Adam’s expression darkened. “This is troublesome.”
“Are we going to die?”
The soft, childlike voice came from Eve, cradled in his left arm.
Adam’s gaze softened instantly, turning gentle. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you, no matter what. I swear…”
But his tone grew heavy with those final words.
Before him stood dozens of Eerie Lords. Behind them, Veronica, Alice, and the One-Eyed Owl loomed—each a formidable opponent.
He could not guarantee Eve’s survival.
Eve had no combat abilities, created purely by God as Adam’s companion to alleviate his loneliness.
If it came to the worst, Adam might have to reabsorb Eve, turning her back into his rib to regain full strength.
But that would mean Eve’s complete death.
At this moment, Lin Tian, taking advantage of Michael’s moment of disarray, launched a relentless assault. “I was going to spare you, but you dared to take someone from me! You have only yourself to blame!”
Michael was left scrambling, barely able to dodge.
She had no time to cast spells.
The high-tier angels she had just rescued were all still unconscious.
Left with no other option, she activated her trump card.
The Scales of Judgment.
Clang!!!
As Michael spun mid-air, a sound like the tolling of a midnight bell echoed across the battlefield, shaking souls to their core.
Everyone froze momentarily, dazed by its effect.
Even Gabriel, Lucifer, and Adam were no exception.
This was the power of a Sun-Class magical device—bordering on a god-slaying artifact.
Sensing danger, Lin Tian halted his pursuit, pulling back to observe cautiously. “So, you’ve finally played your trump card.”
His relentless chase had been aimed at forcing her hand.
“Hah… Hah… You’ll regret this!” Michael gasped, quickly regaining composure. “Goblin, the Scales of Judgment is one of the strongest magical devices of the Old God Era. You stand no chance now!”
Because she held the Scales of Judgment, Michael believed victory was assured.
Of course, this applied only to magical beasts—against them, it was guaranteed!
Even Lucifer inwardly panicked. “Damn it, Lin Tian! Don’t you dare die! Run, now!!!”
The Scales of Judgment was simple in concept:
It enforced judgment and punishment.
Whoever had committed more evil acts would inevitably suffer. Under the angels’ definition of good and evil, no magical beast could possibly be considered good.
Lin Tian smirked and remarked, “Do you really think I can still run?”
A massive golden projection of a scale appeared before him, with Michael standing opposite him.
The two of them seemed like objects placed on either side of the scale, awaiting measurement.
Lucifer gritted his teeth and snarled, “Gabriel! You’ll regret this! Don’t push me!”
“And what if I do?” Gabriel replied with unwavering confidence. “Are you planning to use your exclusive magic? Don’t forget—I still have another card to play!”
Gabriel’s demeanor brimmed with assurance, as though victory was already in her grasp.
Even while fighting off six full-power Demon Gods, she remained composed.
Hearing this, Lucifer froze momentarily, realizing he had no choice but to suppress his rage.
If Lin Tian died, the entrance to the Eden Space could not be opened.
Without that, killing God would be nearly impossible.
At this moment, Samael, one of the Demon Gods, chimed in, “Don’t worry. Isn’t our whole plan to ambush and avoid Adam and Gabriel’s combat power? Now that they’re all here, if we kill them all, it’ll be enough!”
“Exactly! That makes sense! Who cares if the goblin dies!”
“That goblin has already fallen to the Scales of Judgment. There’s no way it can survive.”
“At least the Scales of Judgment can only be used once every three days. Its sacrifice isn’t meaningless.”
The Demon Gods spoke one after another.
At least they wouldn’t fall victim to the Scales of Judgment.
Lucifer sighed. “Well then, Lin Tian, farewell. For Celeste’s sake, I’ll slaughter them all to avenge you!”
Meanwhile, Lin Tian looked unimpressed. Though the situation seemed dire, and the plot appeared to have hit an unyielding wall, the Life Simulation System assured him he would win.
And if the system said so, he wouldn’t lose.
He quickly examined the function of the god-slaying magical device, the Scales of Judgment.
Scales of Judgment: Extracts the opponent’s soul and places it on the scales for weighing. A good soul will receive varying degrees of rewards. An evil soul will face varying degrees of punishment, including death.
For magical beasts, this amounted to certain death.
This was why everyone had already started mourning Lin Tian.
“I see now. Michael, aren’t you afraid I’m kinder than you think?” Lin Tian quipped.
Michael scoffed, her confidence unshaken. “Hmph! You, an evil goblin? If you were kind, you wouldn’t have chased me around with a sword earlier! You almost killed me!”
“Enough with the nonsense! Just activate it already!” Gabriel barked from afar, her voice urgent.
Adam was on the verge of collapse, having used five teleportations in rapid succession to evade the Eerie Lords.
Only two teleportations remained.
Adam, visibly irritated, urged, “Michael, hurry up! If you don’t cleanse these curses soon, I’ll get angry!”
The curses inflicted by the Eerie Lords didn’t merely weaken all attributes—they also carried the exclusive mental attacks of heretical creatures.
Staring at them for too long could cause one’s mind to crumble into madness.
“Don’t worry, he’s done for!” Michael declared confidently, her golden pupils reflecting the phantom of the Scales of Judgment.
She activated the judgment.
“Goblin, you will pay dearly for your heinous sins!”
Clang!
The sound of mechanical gears turning echoed ominously as the judgment began.
Everyone felt a flicker of fear in their souls.
After all, who among them had never done something against their conscience? Even Gabriel silently acknowledged her own guilt.
Alice and the others anxiously asked, “Your Majesty, should we intervene?”
“You take care of yourselves first. The Scales of Judgment? Bring it here! Lucky Steal!”
Swish!
A blinding light erupted from Lin Tian’s hand!
The skill Lucky Steal activated.
Even those embroiled in intense battles couldn’t help but spare a glance at the unfolding scene.
Some cared about Lin Tian’s life, while others wanted to witness the power of the legendary Scales of Judgment for themselves.
It was said that even gods and principal deities were doomed if caught by its judgment—provided the caster’s goodness outweighed that of their target.
As the light faded, everyone’s eyes locked onto Lin Tian’s position, their pupils trembling.
The golden scales, originally in Michael’s hands, were now inexplicably in Lin Tian’s possession!
This sight stunned Gabriel, Lucifer, and Adam.
Michael was utterly flabbergasted. “Huh? Huh?! Where are my scales?! How is this possible? It was already activated! How could it be forcibly interrupted and stolen?!”
“Michael! What are you doing?!” Adam’s earlier composure evaporated entirely as his frustration boiled over.
He was down to his last teleportation.
There were still over twenty Eerie Lords remaining.
Gabriel’s expression darkened further, almost to the point of dripping with malice. Her armor trembled with rage as she scolded coldly, “Michael, look at what you’ve done! I’ve told you countless times—never let your guard down in battle!”
“Gabriel, my lady, this isn’t my fault! I don’t know what happened!” Michael replied, her face filled with despair.
Now, not only had she failed to kill the goblin, but she had also become a liability to her own team.
This was a type of humiliation Lin Tian knew all too well.
After all, Lucky Steal was an exceedingly rare skill in this world. Even among those who had it, its existence was barely known.
The skill was typically comprehended and created by top-tier thieves. And since they were thieves, they would never reveal their methods to the world.
The skill worked by stealing something the opponent was deeply invested in.
In Michael’s case, she had placed all her hopes in the Scales of Judgment during that moment, making her the perfect target. It was a guaranteed success.
This was precisely why Lin Tian had pursued her so relentlessly, forcing her to reveal her trump card.
In an earlier simulation, he had died at the hands of the Scales of Judgment.
Seeing the situation, Lucifer muttered in disbelief, “Is that… a thief’s skill? But thief skills usually steal something of lesser value. How could it possibly take a god-slaying magical device like the Scales of Judgment? How high is this guy’s luck stat?!”
The attack, which would have been inescapable for anyone else, had been effortlessly neutralized.
It would have been strange not to feel shocked.
“Your Highness! Forget the goblin for now! That damned Gabriel—she’s not going to power up again, is she?!” Samael shouted, his voice filled with alarm.
Watching Gabriel, whose face was like thunder and whose armor was trembling with rage, Samael couldn’t help but swallow hard. Fear crept into his voice.
Mastema, however, felt no fear, channeling his terror into fury. “Come on, you monster! Let’s see just how far you can go!”
Gabriel had been growing stronger, again and again.
Mastema was on the verge of snapping, and he knew it was all because of Lin Tian. He wanted nothing more than to curse the goblin.
“Be careful of her exclusive battle technique, Doomsday Horn. Combined with her guaranteed-hit ability, even surviving it would leave you gravely injured!” Lucifer warned, his guard fully up.
He was ready to counter with his own exclusive magic.
The Doomsday Horn, when sounded, would plunge the world into destruction. The four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, sealed away by God, would descend to assist in battle.
Lucifer’s exclusive magic could nullify an opponent’s spell, but it could only be used once and had to be executed swiftly. At most, it could cancel the next spell cast.
Meanwhile, Michael stood in despair, frustration written all over her face.
Lin Tian’s gaze turned cold and sinister as he examined the Scales of Judgment in his hand. “What a treasure. Thank you for giving me such a fine god-slaying magical device.”
“You wretched goblin! Give it back to me!” Michael shouted, tears brimming in her eyes as she furiously launched an attack.
Beams of terrifying magical energy shot out in rapid succession, obliterating everything within several kilometers in their path.
But her combat experience was woefully inadequate.
Lin Tian dodged every attack with sheer speed, not even needing to use Jehovah’s Blessing.
When her attacks missed, Michael’s eyes turned blood-red, her body igniting in holy flames.
She was preparing to activate her Seraph Form.
Normally, the Seraph Form consumed magical power in combat, and as a cherub, Michael was particularly suited to it. Its potential even exceeded Gabriel’s.
If she unleashed her full power, her strength would be astonishing.
But Lin Tian had no intention of giving her that chance. “Oh, is the little kitty getting angry?”
Michael ascended higher into the air, spinning as countless burning feathers fell around her—a display of unparalleled grandeur and ferocity. “Goblin! I’ll kill you and reclaim the scales to prove myself to everyone!”
“Oh really? How terrifying,” Lin Tian mocked, a sinister grin spreading across his face. “But I wonder—what happens to an angel like you if you’re judged by the Scales of Judgment?”
With a sly smirk, he activated the power of the scales.
Clang!
The power of the Scales of Judgment ignited.
Target: Michael.
