Chapter 317: The Titans’ Success in Creating a God, and the Separation Ritual!
TL: Sungmin
Lin Tian’s resolute expression was unwavering.
Mastema exchanged glances with the others, silently signaling with his eyes.
Finally, Lucifer responded, “Do it.”
Thwack!
With a single axe strike, the head was severed from the body!
Hiss!
The high demons watching trembled so much that their legs gave out. The Demon God was dead!
A Demon God revered for thousands of years was killed right before their eyes by an outsider.
It was unbelievable!
It felt like a dream!
Lin Tian then turned his gaze to the crowd. “Do you see? This is the consequence of opposing me. I admit you were born strong, but I am not someone you can easily trample over. Beelzebub was such a foolish creature that I couldn’t even muster any serious effort. Don’t you find him pathetic?”
Hearing this, the high demons froze. Beelzebub did seem utterly useless in hindsight.
He had died in such an inexplicable and humiliating way, without the slightest dignity. Even his core kin had been completely wiped out.
Of course, Beelzebub still had descendants among the middle and lesser demons.
“You!” Lucifer’s pupils shrank sharply.
The other Demon Gods also reacted. “Don’t listen to him! Disperse! All of you, leave now!”
Suddenly, the other Demon Gods roared in fury, leaving the high demons completely confused. Under the forceful orders, they could only retreat one by one.
Even the female demons who had coveted Lin Tian’s beauty dared not linger after witnessing his terrifying power.
“Everyone, if you need help opening the Gate of Eden, let me know anytime. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave for now.”
Lin Tian said this casually, whether or not they understood the courtesy.
Celeste, still in shock, snapped back to her senses and hurried to forcibly open the Gate of Hell. “Father, I’ll head back to work now.”
Lucifer didn’t reply, his gaze still filled with disbelief as he watched Lin Tian and Celeste leave.
“That man… was he just now… slaying a god?!”
Samael’s voice trembled as he spoke. The moment Lin Tian left, a strange sense of relief washed over him.
It felt like surviving a calamity!
Lucifer’s expression grew grave. “We have always kept our eyes on Heaven and the Gods, but when did such a monstrous being emerge in this world?”
He had initially admired Lin Tian, but his actions just now completely changed his perspective.
Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying!
Even Lucifer wasn’t confident he could suppress such a monster!
Abaddon’s face had gone pale earlier but slowly regained some color. “He destroyed Beelzebub’s faith, intending to slay him completely. How does this man even know such things?!”
Gods were unkillable because their believers sustained them with the power of faith.
If all the believers’ faith collapsed, the god would perish completely.
Lin Tian’s brief speech just now had shattered Beelzebub’s faith among the demons.
Azazel quickly said, “I’ll lock this information down and ensure it doesn’t spread to other demons!”
Aside from the high demons, there were still believers of Beelzebub among the middle and lesser demons.
Lucifer, however, shook his head. “Forget it. That man is overly cautious. If Beelzebub wasn’t dead, he wouldn’t open the Gate of Eden. He’ll only be satisfied this way.”
Hearing this, the Demon Gods fell silent.
The reasoning made sense. The more they thought about it, the more terrifying Lin Tian seemed.
A mere goblin had managed to suppress seven Demon Gods!
Even feeling angry wasn’t an option!
They had endured millennia of patience, so it seemed better to let it go for now. Once Jehovah was slain and Heaven conquered, they could rebuild their faith and transform from reviled demons to revered gods.
By then, they could deal with Lin Tian however they pleased.
“Let’s begin preparing the Eden Project. But first, we need to eliminate the angels hunting him.”
Lucifer hesitated for a moment before adding this.
Samael furrowed his brow. “What? We’re Demon Gods! Even after hiding like cowards for thousands of years, we won’t allow ourselves to be used like this!”
The others ground their teeth in frustration, their anger surging.
But Lucifer said, “When we attack Eden, Adam and Eve will be hard to deal with. If the angels from the Celestial Castle come to their aid, it’ll be even more troublesome. Clearing them out first will make things much easier.”
This was why he had agreed to the plan.
Hearing this, the other Demon Gods thought for a moment and reluctantly let it go.
…
The Mortal Realm.
The Goblin Empire.
In the top-floor office of the Succubus House, a Gate of Hell opened, and Lin Tian slowly stepped through. “Thank you so much for this time.”
“It’s nothing, but your actions shocked even me. Was it really necessary to kill Beelzebub and his kin? Doing so might provoke the other Demon Gods,” Celeste said, puzzled.
Lin Tian took a step closer, locking eyes with Celeste’s serpentine gaze. The atmosphere grew unexpectedly intimate.
“Idiot. With Beelzebub dead, doesn’t that make you the next god? I’m helping you,” he said with a smirk.
Then, he stepped back and added, “I’ll be off now. If you still want that thing, I’ll bring it to you in a couple of days.”
As Lin Tian walked away, Celeste felt her heart skip a beat.
“For… my sake?” she murmured softly.
Back at the palace.
When the others saw Lin Tian return from Hell, they all came rushing to welcome him back.
Time was a blur in Hell, and before anyone realized it, two full days had passed in the mortal realm.
Gobu Yue didn’t seem overly emotional. Instead, she beamed with pride as she had before. “Hehe, our boss is officially a man who’s been to Hell now. Who can beat that? No one, right?”
“Whatever. We’re all going there eventually,” the One-Eyed Owl said gruffly.
Though her tone was sharp, a heavy weight seemed to lift from her heart.
Alice and Gobu Kuang, along with Bill, appeared much calmer. They had confidence in Lin Tian’s safe return.
At the banquet held in his honor, Bill was already drunk beyond reason. “So… did you find that… uh… that Demon Fruit thing or not?”
Lin Tian, who had been lost in the revelry, suddenly remembered. He took out a Demon Fruit with great solemnity.
The moment it appeared, the entire hall seemed to dim in its presence.
A strange and overwhelming aura filled the space.
Everyone’s eyes were drawn to it, filled with awe. “So, this is a Demon Fruit? The thing even angels would fall to obtain?”
“That’s right,” Lin Tian confirmed.
The One-Eyed Owl’s impatience was evident. “Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and eat it! If you don’t, give it to me!”
The fruit was said to grant immense power. Who wouldn’t be tempted?
But Lin Tian shook his head. “If you eat this, you’ll take on another identity—a demon. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to gain its power without the side effects.”
The side effects were no small matter.
The fruit’s demonic energy could corrupt the mind, turning its bearer into a slave to their desires.
Not everyone had the mental strength to resist its pull.
Even Lin Tian wasn’t confident he could withstand it. In the worst case, he could be twisted into a purely malevolent demon, ruled by unbridled desires.
After all, Lin Tian prided himself on his ideals of “truth, goodness, and beauty.”
“Can I take a look at the fruit?” Alice’s cool, crisp voice broke the silence.
Lin Tian took out several fruits and handed them around for inspection.
Slightly larger than a fist, the fruit was covered in intricate patterns, radiating a molten glow. It was indeed extraordinary.
But the energy within it was utterly terrifying.
The fruit was said to grant Mythic-Class Magic, and with it, one could ascend to become a semi-divine being.
Everyone gazed at the fruit with awe and fear in their eyes.
The sheer, overwhelming power emanating from it was disconcerting, as if it were a condensation of the essence of heaven and earth, transcending mortal existence.
It wasn’t merely a visual shock—it was a blow to the soul.
Alice felt the fruit’s searing heat and used the Ominous Blade to lift it.
Before she could examine it closely, the long-dormant Darkspawn within the blade began to stir violently. “This! This is a Hell Fruit! Why do you have it?!”
Hearing this, Alice exchanged a glance with Lin Tian.
“Don’t suppress him just yet,” Lin Tian said calmly. “I want to hear what this thing really is. One person calls it a Demon Fruit, another a Hell Fruit.”
As Lin Tian spoke, the oppressive aura of the Darkspawn began to spread from the Ominous Blade. It felt like a myriad of tiny spikes pricking everyone who came near, making them extremely uncomfortable.
The Darkspawn took a deep sniff. “A scent more exquisite than blood and screams… Lin Tian, you’ve come so far already. How fascinating…”
“Cut the nonsense. Speak or get back where you came from,” Lin Tian snapped, his voice sharp and impatient.
The Darkspawn shivered, its rage evident but suppressed. “Hell Fruit, Demon Fruit—it doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s a fruit born of divine corruption, formed from the condensed malice of gods. To wield its power, you need a will comparable to that of a god.”
Lin Tian frowned. “I’m asking how to remove its side effects. Don’t tell me you didn’t hear me earlier.”
Darkspawn, though suppressed, had always retained its awareness. It could hear everything said in the hall, even if it couldn’t speak or act.
“Simple,” it replied. “Either you harbor an extreme belief yourself, or you use divine power to counteract the divine malice. Alternatively, find an alchemist to separate the divine malice from the divine power. But once the malice is extracted, it could merge into a new entity. At that point, what it becomes, no one can predict.”
The Darkspawn’s tone was layered with meaning.
Its intentions weren’t pure—it knew that if Lin Tian and his companions perished, it might lose its chance for resurrection forever.
Even though it was currently suppressed, Alice wielded the Ominous Blade against powerful beings, allowing the Darkspawn to recover nearly eighty percent of its strength.
Once fully restored, it could break free from the suppression of the Wind Spirit Sylph and take control of Alice’s body.
Hearing this, Lin Tian fell into deep thought. “What method should an alchemist use to separate the two powers?” he pressed further.
“It’s simple,” Darkspawn explained. “This fruit is a condensation of the divine malice of gods and naturally contains their power as well. Using a separation ritual will extract these components. If you’re dealing with an alchemist, they’ll understand immediately.”
Darkspawn added a warning. “I’ll say it again—be extremely cautious with the extraction of the malice. If it fuses into a new entity, it will be irreversible.”
Lin Tian nodded, absorbing the explanation.
Alchemists, who studied chemical elements, often worked to extract various materials from specific items.
Thus, they possessed a specialized skill, the Separation Ritual, which functioned similarly to magic.
Applying this method to the Demon Fruit seemed plausible.
“Alright,” Lin Tian said, turning to Alice.
Sylph’s power surged once more, suppressing Darkspawn back into silence.
The One-Eyed Owl interjected, “Then I’ll go round up the strongest alchemists in the city right now.”
Among their group, no one specialized in alchemical techniques.
However, given the complexity of the city’s population, there had to be someone capable.
Lin Tian shook his head. “No need. It’s just a matter of learning the Separation Ritual. I remember handing over the War Empire’s research materials to Grugia earlier. If he’s been studying them, he’s likely picked up some alchemical knowledge.”
“That’s true. I haven’t seen Grugia or Osius in ages,” the One-Eyed Owl remarked thoughtfully.
Gobu Yue chimed in. “They’ve set up a temporary base around Heart Lake. It seems to be focused on alchemical research.”
The Titan God-Making Project was primarily built around alchemical technology.
The project aimed to extract genes from the ancient Titans’ finger bones and fuse them into a human body using magic.
“I see. I’ll head there now,” the One-Eyed Owl said before dashing off.
Not long after, she returned with two individuals in tow.
Grugia was clad in peculiar attire—a brownish-black protective suit resembling a hazmat suit, presumably for safety purposes.
His head was also covered by a mask.
Osius was dressed similarly, as alchemical work was notoriously hazardous.
Countless alchemists had met their end through explosions, poisoning, or operational errors.
As a result, skilled alchemists were rare, and even fewer were able to grow strong.
Before Lin Tian could say a word, Grugia burst into near-manic laughter. “It’s done! Haha! Brother Tian, I did it! I’ve realized the God-Making Project! Hahaha!!”
“This is a century—no, a historic—no, a world-shaking achievement!” Osius eagerly echoed his sentiments.
The two looked every bit like deranged mad scientists straight out of an asylum.
Lin Tian’s eyes lit up. “Explain.”
He had seen the ultimate goal of the Titan God-Making Project before: turning ordinary people into beings with power comparable to gods.
It was an impressive concept, though its implementation was as daunting as building a photolithography machine by hand.
“Through alchemy and magic,” Grugia began excitedly, “we fused the genes of Zerg, Antmen, and Demons. After more than three thousand experiments, Zerg genes have adapted to Titan power!”
“This means we can now modify genes that have adapted to Titan power into magic-infused arrays. At the very least, we can create true Titans standing five thousand meters tall!”
“Additionally, with Zerg genes, the body can function like ant people—detaching from its gigantic form when needed. Demon genes allow the body to handle the strain of sudden size changes.”
“We’re just one step away. If someone can withstand the transformation of the infusion array, they’ll become a five-thousand-meter-tall Titan Giant!”
Grugia rattled off his explanation with fervor, his expression one of unbridled excitement.
The long-winded details gave Lin Tian a headache. He understood now why having the God-Making Project materials on hand had been useless to him.
Still, he managed to extract the key points.
A five-thousand-meter Titan Giant, even without any skills, would possess unimaginable physical power. A single step could trigger a quake capable of obliterating an empire.
If such a being had skills, it was impossible to fathom their potential.
For now, however, the most critical issue was whether the test subject could survive the transformation.
Even the transformation into Titans of several dozen or a hundred meters carried a 90% mortality rate.
“Do whatever you want with the God-Making Project later. Right now, help me use the Separation Ritual to extract something,” Lin Tian said with a serious expression.
