From Goblin to Goblin God - Chapter 290
Chapter 290: Wretch, Today Is the Day You Die!
TL: Sungmin
“Then let’s give it a try. First, teach me this so-called Familiar Contract.”
Lin Tian felt it wouldn’t hurt to gain some benefit from this. Still, he remained cautious around the guy.
Ladrick pulled out an ancient scroll. “This is a secret tome of Familiar Contracts I found in a Demonic Secret Realm. You can learn it straight from this.”
Lin Tian took the scroll, which exuded dark energy and pulsed with an ominous aura.
He unrolled it casually, glancing at runes that were in a language he couldn’t recognize. However, he understood the structure of the magic formation, enough to start learning.
“The scroll is ancient and authentic. Don’t worry about any tricks; go ahead and start studying,” Ladrick encouraged him.
Likewise, Alice and the One-Eyed Owl were all ears nearby, eager to listen in.
Learning such a rare support spell could only be beneficial. No reason not to learn it.
With Ladrick’s guidance, the three of them soon grasped the basics.
Alice formed a magic circle, and a black hole suddenly appeared on the ground before her.
As she chanted in Demonic Tongue, a crow with a skull for a head slowly emerged, its eyes glimmering like ghastly flames. It perched fondly on her shoulder.
It seemed the contract was a success.
Next, the One-Eyed Owl summoned her own familiar. It resembled a stone, only about the size of a basketball, and propped itself up on two stubby arms as it walked.
Ladrick sighed sympathetically. “It’s a pity, really. A familiar that can’t fly isn’t very useful. But while it’s around, it will boost your strength a bit.”
“Well, at least that’s something,” the One-Eyed Owl responded, picking up the rock-like familiar and inspecting it. “It’s kind of ugly, but I guess it’ll do.”
Finally, only Lin Tian remained, painstakingly studying the structure of the magic formation.
The pathways were too intricate and complex. There was no way he could learn it quickly—maybe a human in this world, with natural magical talent, could manage.
But he, a mere low-level goblin, lacked any such talent.
“Forget it,” Lin Tian grumbled, feeling a headache coming on. “I’ll just use Alice’s familiar to scout when the time comes. I’ll study this later.”
With that, he stashed the scroll away in his robes.
Ladrick frowned uncomfortably. “Ah… Your Majesty, I was planning on taking that back…”
However, Lin Tian feigned ignorance. “What scroll? I didn’t see any scroll.”
“I…!”
A flash of malice crossed Ladrick’s eyes. But after a moment’s thought, he decided to wait. Killing Lin Tian later and taking the scroll back would be no problem.
“Let’s go then. I’m all set,” Lin Tian said, gazing into the distance, his eyes steely with killing intent.
After rallying a sufficient army, they set off.
Thanks to a large-scale teleportation array in the Zerg Empire, they could easily reach the Uninhabited Zone.
However, Lin Tian and his group first paused within the Zerg Empire to await the right moment. “At midnight tonight, go ahead and burn through Nanavis’s two remaining opportunities. We’ll follow right after.”
“No problem,” Ladrick replied, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
Everything was unfolding according to his plan; he couldn’t be happier.
…
In the Castle of Pride
Nanavis wore a stormy expression. The Demon Kings below her trembled, not even daring to breathe heavily.
None dared to speak up—it would be suicide to do so.
She was still fuming from a scolding she’d received from Salist.
Nanavis had spent the past while figuring out how to vent her fury.
“What’s happening with the Holy Alliance? Any new moves from their side?”
At last, Nanavis spoke, her tone icy.
She planned to direct her wrath at the Holy Alliance.
Earlier, a white-robed archmage from the Star Sanctuary had managed to escape from her grasp, and she was sure he wouldn’t let it go. Surely they’d make their next move soon.
One of the Demon Kings responsible for guarding the border stepped forward and replied, “They’ve been quiet so far. Perhaps they’re wary of your power, Lady Nana, and dare not act rashly.”
“Slick talker!”
“Boom!”
With a swift motion of her hand, Nanavis sent the Demon King flying against the wall.
She then issued a cold warning, “Do not underestimate the enemy just because of this. They are undoubtedly planning a fierce offensive. Increase our defenses! Now, go!”
The Demon King scurried away in a hurry, grateful to be out of her presence. Guard duty at the border was much better than staying here!
The other Demon Kings cowered even more, heads lowered like children guilty of wrongdoing.
At that moment, Ladrick’s figure appeared at the castle gate. “Lady Nanavis, I have come to speak with you.”
“Come in. I was just thinking about how to handle the Holy Alliance’s upcoming assault. You have a quick mind—let’s hear what you suggest,” Nanavis said, propping her head on one hand with a calm, almost leisurely air.
Hearing this, Ladrick squinted his eyes and began, “Um… Lady Nana, I actually came to discuss the matter of the goblins. I’ve investigated further, and if we don’t address this, it could lead to—”
Before he could finish, Nanavis’s beautiful eyes flashed, and an aura of black and red erupted from her!
The entire hall felt like it was a hundred meters underwater, the pressure was crushing!
Ladrick swallowed nervously. Although he felt a hint of fear, this was exactly what he wanted—to provoke Nanavis into killing him so that she would waste two of her control opportunities on his resurrection.
“You people must have your brains broken! Are you really so fixated on those lowly goblins that you’re still talking about them?!” Nanavis seethed, lifting Ladrick into the air as her scarlet eyes blazed with fury.
Unable to hold back, Ladrick begged for mercy, “My lady! Spare me! I was wrong! I’ll help you deal with the Holy Alliance! Please, let me go!”
With a single thought, her Ultimate Domination activated, instantly shattering his mind.
He went limp, arms and legs dangling. His death was clear for all to see.
Nanavis nonchalantly opened his head and let the pulped remains of his brain spill onto the floor before resurrecting him once more.
“Huff… huff… Am I… alive again?” Ladrick gasped as he crawled to his feet, terror filling his eyes.
Nanavis pointed to the floor. “There’s no goblin in your head either, is there? I don’t want to hear any more about those inferior creatures! Even a thousand Goblin Kings would be nothing more than ants to us!”
Goblins were known as mere nuisances to novice adventurers.
Who could take them seriously? Perhaps a more modest soul might, but Nanavis didn’t even care to listen.
“I understand, my lady! I won’t mention them again. I’ll look into the Holy Alliance at once and devise a counter-strategy,” Ladrick replied humbly, kneeling on the ground.
Seeing his submissive response, Nanavis didn’t say anything further. “Go on, then. I trust in your capabilities.”
The moment Ladrick exited the castle, his deferential expression twisted into a sinister, venomous sneer. “Wretch, today is the day you die!”
Overhead, Alice’s familiar—the skeletal crow—drifted silently by.
