Evolution from Carp to Divine Dragon - Chapter 360
Chapter 360: Absorbing Radiation
TL: Etude
As Blaze stepped out of the helicopter, he couldn’t help but voice his concerns.
“Can this mutant creature really be killed that easily?” he asked, his gaze sweeping over the assembled group.
“It will definitely die,” someone assured him. “And we just received the latest news: three members of the EL organization, all wearing Type 1 Battle Suits, were also at the blast site!”
“Ha, they’ll be wiped out too!” The blond elder, upon hearing the latest updates, burst into laughter.
“Does the EL organization have that many Type 1 Battle Suits?” Blaze’s immediate reaction was disbelief.
How could the EL members get their hands on so many Type 1 Battle Suits?
“They probably got them from those ETs,” the elder suggested, his laughter fading into a serious expression.
“The latest reports indicate that EL members wearing Type 1 Battle Suits have appeared all over the world!” The gravity of the situation dawned on the others as they absorbed this information.
So many people equipped with Type 1 Battle Suits posed a significant threat to nations worldwide.
“This is a huge problem,” another man remarked, clearly troubled.
The EL organization had a global presence, and recently, they’d been taking advantage of the chaos caused by the rampant mutant creatures. They’d launched attacks on smaller nations and even occupied major cities.
These small countries were now seeking help from the Global Alliance, but the Alliance was already stretched thin with numerous tasks for its warriors, leaving them unable to provide immediate assistance.
“Bad news!”
At that moment, a man sitting on a rock, working on a laptop, suddenly looked alarmed.
“What is it?” Everyone turned to him at once.
“There’s a strong life energy fluctuation at the center of the explosion site!” The man’s hands trembled as he continued typing.
“How is that possible?” The blond elder rushed over, staring intently at the laptop screen. The life energy curve displayed had spiked dramatically.
“Could it be a satellite error? There was nothing there just now!” he exclaimed.
Blaze and the others crowded around, their eyes fixed on the fluctuating life energy curve, their expressions growing increasingly grave.
“I’m not sure,” the man with the laptop replied, sweat beading on his forehead. “The life energy readings are still rising, and the explosion’s effects are preventing the satellites from getting a clear image of the area.”
A terrifying possibility crossed his mind—the mutant marine iguana might still be alive.
“That’s impossible,” the blond elder growled. “No creature could survive an attack from such a weapon!”
He felt a bit panicked now.
If this creature had survived and was still alive, it would be terrifying!
“Send a drone to check,” Blaze said after taking a deep breath to calm himself. He had sensed something was wrong earlier, and now his unease had only grown.
There was a strong possibility that the mutant creature had not died. Could it actually absorb the radiation from the explosion?
“Yes, send a drone immediately!”
About half an hour later, America’s drones were en route to the explosion site. These drones flew rapidly, reaching the vicinity of the blast in no time.
The power of the mushroom cloud weapon had flattened all nearby buildings, creating a terrifying scene.
As the drone flew closer, the camera clearly captured a massive figure in the explosion zone.
“It’s really not dead!?”
Blaze and the others had connected to the drone’s camera feed, witnessing the live footage. Their eyes widened in shock.
A massive mutant creature lay on the ground. It was the powerful mutant marine iguana! Its flesh seemed almost entirely dispersed, with some organs still intact.
Thump, thump!
Its exposed heart was still beating strongly. The enormous creature began to slowly rise. Its remaining flesh was wriggling, seemingly starting to regenerate.
“How is this possible…” The blond elder’s eyes widened in disbelief at the horrifying sight. The explosion hadn’t killed it outright. Even more astonishingly, its residual flesh appeared highly active and was regenerating.
“Radiation energy from the area is flowing into its body!”
“It’s absorbing the radiation energy!” The man with the laptop, hands on the keyboard, was drenched in sweat. It was horrifying. This creature could indeed absorb radiation energy!
“Quick!” the elder ordered, snapping out of his shock. “Launch more missiles! Even if it can absorb radiation energy, it can’t withstand missile attacks in its current state!”
He quickly made a call to issue the command.
Bzzz—
At that moment, the drone feed turned to static.
“The drone was destroyed!” the man with the laptop announced.
“Damn it!” The silver-haired elder gritted his teeth. The worst-case scenario had actually happened.
“Monitor the life energy fluctuations!” he ordered. “Track where it’s headed!”
Satellites could lock onto the life energy signal to track the mutant creature’s movements.
“It’s… it’s running!”
“Towards the ocean!” the man said, watching the life energy radar on his screen. A red dot representing the strong life energy was moving towards the ocean.
“Trying to escape!?” The blond elder immediately grabbed his phone to coordinate a missile strike. However, the creature’s escape was swift. In a short time, the red dot on the radar vanished.
“It got away!”
