Evolution from Carp to Divine Dragon - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: The Strange Creature
TL: Etude
Lin Hao, with his keen hearing, was instantly startled.
Recently, this area seemed to be experiencing all sorts of strange events!
“Hiss, hiss, hiss…”
A peculiar breathing sound reached his ears.
Looking closely, under the moonlight, a humanoid figure approached.
“What… what is that!?”
Lin Hao’s heart filled with shock.
It looked like a human, but it had no hair, and its skin appeared green under the moonlight, like a layer of rubber, giving it a slimy and disgusting appearance.
The creature was about 1.6 meters tall but had disproportionately large limbs, and its face was somewhat grotesque.
It walked to the bank and crouched down, cupping its hands to drink the water.
Lin Hao hid under a lotus leaf, staring intently at the scene.
It was a humanoid creature.
Moreover, it wore a white latex suit and carried a knife on its back.
Having lived on Earth for over twenty years, Lin Hao had never seen or heard of such a creature!
It was already shocking to encounter mutated creatures, but now there was something like this.
After drinking a few sips of water, its large eyes focused on the Hualong Pond.
Was he discovered!?
Seeing its gaze seemingly directed towards him, Lin Hao tensed up completely.
The situation was somewhat terrifying!
However, it only stared for a moment before standing up.
“Very soon…”
A mechanical, hard voice came from its mouth.
It could speak?
Hearing its words, Lin Hao’s eyes filled with shock.
The creature seemed to be learning human language!
And what did it mean by “very soon”?
It didn’t stay long and soon walked off towards another area, disappearing into the night.
Watching this, Lin Hao’s heart remained unsettled long after the creature had vanished.
“In addition to mutated creatures, there are actually beings like this!”
“It’s just like an alien…”
Lin Hao couldn’t help but speak to himself internally.
Wait…
Could the appearance of these mutated creatures on Earth be related to this being?
It’s not impossible!
The mysteries were multiplying.
“Damn, it looks like Longyin City is very dangerous now.”
He paced back and forth at the bottom of the pond.
But for now, he was just a koi fish and couldn’t do much.
“Currently, I have only accumulated 1730 evolution points, still not enough.”
“I need to quickly upgrade to the next level.”
Lin Hao had no better plan, so he continued to wander around the Hualong Pond, looking for small fish and shrimp.
The other koi seemed to consider him their leader, swimming around him as he moved.
Cannibalism was out of the question, and with these koi treating him like their leader, he couldn’t bring himself to eat them.
“If these koi could all evolve and regard me as their leader, obeying my commands, that would be pretty good.”
Lin Hao muttered to himself.
The next few days seemed peaceful.
Boss Peng didn’t show up again; perhaps he had lost all his money in the stock market and had gone up to the roof to consider his options.
Lin Hao continued to accumulate evolution points, aiming for the two-thousand-point mark!
…
“In recent days, there have been several incidents of mutated knife fish attacking people. All the victims were fishermen who ventured out from the East Sea,” said Luo Xue, addressing the attendees in a conference room.
The attendees included researchers, government officials, and some individuals in black uniforms with distinctive “HXLZ” emblems on their chests. These personnel carried silver long boxes, exuding an air of authority.
“The mutated knife fish have a parasitic ability, allowing them to control the corpses of animals to move a certain distance,” Luo Xue continued, her expression turning grave.
“It seems like they are receiving some sort of command, doing everything possible to come ashore from the sea,” she said, her face growing more serious.
These creatures had a strong reproductive ability and could adapt to freshwater. If they entered the freshwater rivers within Longyin City, they would invade and proliferate wildly, posing a significant threat to the entire city.
“My recommendation is to temporarily close the sea,” Luo Xue suggested to the government representatives present.
“Yes, we will address this promptly,” the representatives nodded slightly, understanding the severity of the situation just from hearing about it.
“We also need to strengthen patrols within the city and install more surveillance. I believe more creatures will appear,” Luo Xue added.
The meeting lasted for over an hour before concluding.
“Won’t the fishermen oppose closing the sea?” one government official asked as they left the research center.
“This time, there’s no choice. Some of them have already been attacked and killed. Once we explain the seriousness of the situation, they should understand,” a middle-aged man responded solemnly.
He was deeply concerned, as the current situation posed a significant challenge to Longyin City.
“By the way, Director Zhang, who were those people with the boxes on their backs?” another man asked in a low voice.
The most notable participants in the meeting were the group in black combat uniforms carrying silver rectangular boxes, resembling sword cases from martial arts stories.
“They are also from HXLZ,” Director Zhang replied in a low voice. “They belong to the combat unit.”
“Combat unit?” several people exclaimed simultaneously, their eyes filled with surprise.
They knew a bit about HXLZ but had no knowledge of this so-called combat unit.
“You can think of them as exceptionally skilled individuals,” Director Zhang continued. “They specialize in dealing with mutated creatures.”
His expression grew even more serious. The presence of the combat unit indicated that the threat extended beyond the mutated knife fish, suggesting the emergence of other troublesome mutated creatures.
…
“Luo Xue, long time no see,” a middle-aged man in a black combat uniform greeted her with a smile inside the research center.
The man wore a black hat and had a beard, giving him a tall and robust appearance.
“Speak your mind,” Luo Xue replied coolly.
“After all this time, you’re still as aloof as ever,” the man said with a helpless shrug.
“Alright, to the point. Longyin City might be in danger,” he said, his tone turning serious. “According to the latest information, an ET has escaped near Longyin City.”
His expression grew severe as he spoke.
