Chapter 108: What a Great Question!

TL: Etude

The change of the TV channel brought a different program, much to the dismay of the engrossed viewers. Though slightly upset, there was nothing they could do about it. After all, it was someone else’s TV, and they had the right to change the channel as they pleased.

However, their displeasure soon faded, and they became engrossed in the new program. But before long, Fang Aiguo came over and changed the channel again. This time, the viewers were truly annoyed.

Some of them stood up and left in a huff, muttering complaints as they went. Fang Aiguo murmured under his breath, “Complaining about free viewing? If you want to leave, then go. Don’t just take up space.”

After the second channel change, the enthusiasm for watching TV had significantly dwindled among the crowd.

“Hey, how much are you selling these TVs for?” a young man approached Fang Aiguo and asked.

Caught off guard, Fang Aiguo responded instinctively, “The ones over here are 350, and those over there are 300.”

The young man frowned slightly, “Why are the prices different?”

Fang Aiguo explained, “Different sizes and conditions of the TVs mean different prices.”

The young man expressed surprise, “Oh, is that so?”

“Of course, our boss insists on integrity in business!” Fang Aiguo declared earnestly, echoing what he had been taught by Chen Jianghai.

Hesitant, the young man then asked, “What does ‘lifetime warranty’ mean, as mentioned here?”

Hearing this, Fang Aiguo’s spirits lifted. What a great question!

He explained loudly, “It’s simple. If you buy an appliance from us and it breaks down, bring it in for repair anytime. As long as the damage isn’t caused by misuse, it’s all free!”

“Really?” the young man looked at Fang Aiguo with wide, incredulous eyes.

Fang Aiguo’s voice had risen enough for others to hear, sparking a wave of discussions among the onlookers.

“Free repairs, really?”

“Can we get it repaired as many times as needed?”

“Yes, it’s true!” Fang Aiguo didn’t hesitate, “This is our post-sale warranty. Buy our products, and this guarantees your free repairs!”

Free repairs were incredibly appealing. With technology not being highly advanced at the time, especially for long-term use items like TVs and radios, issues were common. Minor problems could be overlooked, but significant issues were costly to fix. This worry was always a concern for customers. Sometimes, a customer might buy a TV that worked fine on the first day but broke down the next. It was an indescribable frustration.

Chen Jianghai’s offer of this service essentially removed this worry for the customers.

The young man seemed convinced and quickly said, “Alright, I’ll take one!”

Hearing the young man’s decision to buy, Fang Aiguo, a bit excited, eagerly asked, “Which one would you like?”

“That one!” The young man pointed at a TV that looked about 90% new.

“Three hundred and fifty,” Fang Aiguo announced the price.

The young man, seemingly prepared, pulled out a stack of money, licked his finger to count it, and handed it over.

“Here, count it.”

The young man’s eyes held a hint of reluctance, but more so excitement.

Fang Aiguo pointed at Lin Wanqiu, saying, “Don’t give the money to me, give it to her.”

Without much ado, the young man approached Lin Wanqiu with the money, ready to pay and take his purchase.

Seeing the sale was successful, Fang Aiguo began to pack the TV into a prepared cardboard box.

After Lin Wanqiu carefully counted the money, she issued a receipt and a post-sale service card.

“Keep these two items safe. If there’s a problem with the TV, you’ll need this service card to get free repairs,” Lin Wanqiu advised with attention to detail, flawlessly following the process trained by Chen Jianghai.

Chen Jianghai watched from a distance, nodding in approval.

The young man quickly safeguarded the service card as Lin Wanqiu instructed.

Meanwhile, Fang Aiguo had already packed the TV in a box.

“Your TV is ready to go,” Fang Aiguo announced, placing the box on the counter.

The young man, seeing the envious glances from the crowd, puffed up his chest and wore a proud smile, feeling his money was well spent.

“You also have three chances to draw a prize. Would you like to try?” Fang Aiguo reminded him.

“Of course!” the young man replied promptly, though without much expectation.

After all, are prizes that easy to win?

Fang Aiguo fetched a paper box from under the counter, shook it, and handed it over, saying, “Take one slip at a time.”

The young man nodded, reached in, and finally pulled out a paper.

“You can open it yourself,” Fang Aiguo said.

The young man, not really expecting much, opened it to find the words ‘one basin’ written on it.

“Wow, not bad luck, actually won a prize,” the young man said, pleasantly surprised.

Fang Aiguo confirmed the paper and then handed a brand-new enamel basin to the young man.

“Congratulations, keep it up!”

Seeing someone win a prize, even if just a basin, excited the onlookers.

“Hey, you can really win something?”

“I’m tempted to try now!”

“I wonder who will win the top prize?”

The young man then proceeded to his second attempt but wasn’t as lucky this time, drawing a slip that read: “Thank you for participating.”

The young man wasn’t disappointed; after all, continuous winning would mean a loss for the business.

On his third try, he was more relaxed, drawing another slip nonchalantly.

Opening it, his eyes widened in shock.

“What’s up? Did you win?”

“Not another ‘thank you for participating,’ right?”

“Most likely, it’s hard to win these prizes.”

As the crowd speculated, the young man held up the slip, asking with a hint of excitement, “This… it says ‘second prize’ on it, is it true?”

Second prize?

This guy’s luck was unbelievable!

“Let me see!”

Fang Aiguo took the slip, checked it, and nodded, “Yes, it’s the second prize, a radio.”

This set off a frenzy among the crowd.

“Second prize already?”

“This guy’s luck is amazing!”

“He’s made a profit today, got a radio and a basin along with the TV!”

“I might win the top prize if I try.”

“Don’t dream, it costs a hundred to draw once, do you have the money?”

“Here’s your prize, and it also comes with a service card. Remember to keep it safe,” Fang Aiguo said, handing over the radio and advising him.

The young man was slightly surprised, “This prize also comes with a lifetime warranty?”
